THE K I N ' G ’ S B U S I N E S S are about 70,000 Mohammedans, con- sistmg mostly of Turks, Kurds and Arabians, located in this country. m • I twelve years ago a preacher who be- lieved the great fundamental doctrines ot the Bible took a church in Salem, Oregon, succeeding a man who had preached very liberal theology. The church at the time had in its member ship many who were confessedly be lievers in Eddyism and other cults and many had previously gone from the church into the ranks of these cults the new man preached the old Bible doctrine including the second coming of Christ. In the twelve years not a per son has gone from the church into any false cult, nor is there one of its large membership wbo is not loyal to the Word of God. I MW. n i% Seyenth Day Adventist leader in California takes us to task, saying that the quotations we have cited from the writings of Mrs. Ellen White, their so- called inspired prophetess, are all faked as not one of them occur in her books’ We called his attention to the fact that some of the recent editions of Mrs’ White s works have been tampered with and certain objectionable “ revelations” eliminated. The good elder replies that he is glad to have our admission that we have taken our quotations from tampered with copies” and he will in form his followers of our confession. This is about as far as one can get in dealing, with some of these slick lead ers. We are glad to say, however, that some of the modern Adventists are get ting away from some of the most ser ious errors which Mrs. White gave out as ‘revelations from God.” •H i . . ife The principal of a grade school at Bong Beach, Calif., recently made this statement to his pupils: “ in 0ur family are nine brothers. Five of us are school teachers and have never used tobacco in any way.. The other four all use tobacco. Two began it in gram- mar school, and never finished their grades. One began in high school, and did not finish his second year there. One did not begin smoking until his first year in college, and did not finish his second year in college. The five of us who are teachers all graduated from grammar school, from high school and from college. All nine of us brothers had the same chance for

schooling, and all enjoyed the same nome privileges. The Presbytery of Denver, at a re- cent meeting, appointed a committee to investigate and report concerning the nature of the religious views held and instruction imparted at the Denver Uni versity and the Iliff School of Theology. These are both institutions of the Methodist Church. The purpose of the investigation was to determine whether they were suitable places to which Presbyterian and other evangelical peo ple could safely send their young peo ple for education: After full investi gation the committee recommended to the Presbytery that “ (a) Our young people seeking college training be ad vised to select, if possible, some insti tution where such pitfalls are neither found or countenanced, (b) That -no student for the ministry under our care pursuing his studies at these institu tions be recommended to our Board of Education, (c.) That in view of the crying need of safeguarding sound doc trine, prayerful and unceasing effort be instituted for the establishment of a College under exclusive Synodical con trol to meet the worthy needs of the Rocky Mountain region.” É è Back of religious training was held responsible for the wave' of crime and murder that has been sweeping the country according to the report of a committee at the Knights of Columbus convention. The editor of “ The Men acé” well remarks: “ According to the percentage of criminals in the peniten tiaries who got their training from Rome, this is a subject for the mana gers of popery’s sectarian schools to look into. When twenty per cent of the population furnishes more than fifty per cent of.the criminals and then the Knights charge that criminality is due to lack of religious training, it is about the unkindest cut of all— for the paro chial school boosters.” May your circulation grow with in- creasing and startling numbers.
