For some practitioners, the development of a working differential diagnosis is one of the most difficult tasks in the diagnostic sequence. This course is designed to increase the skills of both dentists and hygienists to successfully formulate a differential diagnosis to either treat or confidently refer. It is an excellent learning format for dentists and dental hygienists, who together diagnose and plan treatment for their patients. Learning Objectives: • Review of the diagnostic terminology and sequence necessary to formulate a differential diagnosis • Appreciate practical methodology to help refine clinical diagnoses and formulate differential diagnosis on soft-tissue and radiographic lesions • Enhance understanding and retention of material via multiple clinical case presentations

Dr. John Alonge is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is currently in private practice in Erie, Pa. Dr. Alonge is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Maryland, where he received his dental degree and a master’s degree in anatomy in 1983. Dr. Alonge has lectured regionally, nationally and internationally, and is an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
