After two years of hosting virtual meetings, plans are well underway for an in-person ASM22 . I hope you are as excited about reconvening at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre as I am. Antibiotics are life-saving drugs. Antibiotic resistance is described as a “slow pandemic” and is considered a pressing international public health problem associated with increased morbidity, mortality and health care costs. This three-day symposium will provide insight on how dental teams can help in raising awareness, preventing and controlling infections and optimizing the use of antibiotics through antimicrobial stewardship in dentistry. We are also looking forward to reconnecting with and supporting our favourite vendors on the Exhibits Floor. The Exhibits Floor will be open Thursday and Friday (May 5 and May 6). These advances have been driven by improvements in computer processing power, leading to advances in digital technology (CAD/CAM) and improvements in biomaterials. However, has the communication between a Dentist and a Dental Technologist seen similar advances? Registered Dental Technologists (RDT) today have adopted new ways of providing services to clinicians which aid in harmonious treatment planning. Not only does this allow for both healthcare professionals to reach a desired result but also exemplifies patient centered care. As an auxiliary team member, a Dental Technologist is a regulated healthcare professional and can bring a wealth of knowledge to the oral health team. It is my pleasure as President of the Association of Dental Technologists of Ontario (ADTO) to welcome you to this ODA ASM22. You must purchase a ticket to access paid courses. Purchasing a ticket for a course provides you with guaranteed access. Don’t be disappointed: register early, as these courses are in high demand and many sell out quickly. The general registration fee includes all free ticketed courses. Register in advance for these courses to guarantee your spot until the published course start time. Please use these reserved seats, so that as many attendees as possible can access the unreserved seating. Course Times There are three staggered course times in the morning and two times in the afternoon Thursday, May 5, and Friday, May 6. Morning courses start at 9:00 am, 9:30 am and 10:00 am, and afternoon courses start at 2:00 pm and 2:30 pm. Morning courses on Saturday, May 7, begin at 8:30 am, and afternoon courses start at 12:30 pm. Speaker Handouts The ODA has an ongoing focus on reducing waste at the ASM. With the support of ASM speakers, the ODA continues its commitment to be as green as possible for ASM22 by providing speaker handouts for download from the ASM website at asm.oda.ca . Not all speakers provide handouts. Handouts will be available for download in mid-April 2022 until July 31, 2022. CE Credits and Attendance Verification ODA MEMBER DENTISTS How many CE credits can I earn at the ASM? You can earn three (3) credits per half day of the ASM, to a maximum of 18 CE credits over the three days. However, some clinical hands-on workshops include bonus credits (as indicated in the program under the course descriptor). CE credits fall under the RCDSO Quality Assurance categories. Category 1: core courses (includes independent assessment) Category 2: clinical courses Category 3: practice management, personal development and general attendance on the Exhibits Floor You cannot earn CE credits for both the Exhibits Floor and courses during the same half day. Examples: • If a dentist attends a half day course in the morning (3 CE credits) and a half day workshop (3 CE credits) with 1 bonus credit in the afternoon, they can earn 7 CE credits for the day. • If a dentist attends a Category 1 (Core) course in the morning and visits the Exhibits Floor in the afternoon, they can earn 3 CE credits in Category 1 and 3 CE credits in Category 3. How is my attendance verified? Scanning is used to verify attendance at the ASM. Dentists must scan in to all courses they attend in order to receive CE credits. For Category 1 (Core) courses, ODA member dentists are required to scan in and complete an independent assessment at the end of the course and then scan out. Holding a ticket for a course does not qualify you for CE credits, unless you have scanned in and out, as outlined under the “Continuing Education” segment of the Show Guide . Important: if you do not scan in (and, where required, scan out) to courses, the ODA has no other way of verifying your attendance at a course. Continuing Education

Category 1 (Core) Courses Please note: attendees arriving more than 15 minutes late or leaving 15 minutes early for a Category 1 (Core) course will forfeit their claim to Category 1 (Core) course credits. Attendees can select a Category 2 or 3 course, instead. Because our courses are ticketed as Category 2 and 3, courses are subject to availability. Please check the on-site signage for availability to Category 2 and 3 courses. To maintain the integrity of the RCDSO credits system, there are no exceptions to the rules. Dentists are required to do the following: • Scan in • Complete the independent assessment (quiz), print your name and ODA membership number • Hand in the independent assessment to the Room Monitor and then scan out of the course. Full-day Continuous Courses You must scan in to a full-day continuous course in the morning, scan in again in the afternoon and scan out at the end of the course to receive the full six (6) CE credits. Please note: no CE credits will be given for attending a half day of a full-day continuous course. You must have three scans to qualify for a full-day continuous course and six (6) CE credits. Category 1 (Core) Full-day Continuous Courses In addition to the regular full-day continuous course scanning rules above, attendees are also required to scan out when the morning session is complete and again when the afternoon session is complete. All four (4) scans (morning in, morning out, afternoon in, afternoon out) are required in order to claim CE credits for a full-day continuous Category 1 (Core) course. As is required, you must also hand in your independent assessment prior to scanning out. Exhibits Floor To receive CE credits for visiting the Exhibits Floor, dentists must scan in during each half day at the CE scanning stations located at the back of the Exhibits Floor. To receive CE credits for the morning, scan in between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon. To receive CE credits for the afternoon, scan in between 12:01 and 5:30 pm. ASM22 On-Demand: May 16–31, 2022 If you purchased the Best Value Package , you can access the virtual on-demand ASM22 . You can log in to the virtual platform between May 16 and 31, and view your preferred courses on a 24-7 basis in the comfort of your office or home. When you log in to ASM22 on-demand, you must enter your email address. Attendance verifications will be issued after you have completed viewing each course. Please note: you are required to complete the entire course in order to receive an attendance verification. You will not receive CE credits if you do not complete the entire course. Please print or save a copy of each attendance verification(s) for your records. How Can I Access My Attendance Verification? For the in-person ASM22 your attendance verification record will be emailed to you in late June 2022. To have an attendance verification emailed to you and each member of your dental team, the ODA requires a unique email address for each attendee. It is the responsibility of each member dentist to maintain their own records and report their activity to the RCDSO. ADA CERP The Ontario Dental Association is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual activities or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by the board of dentistry. Concerns or complaints about a continuing education provide may be directed to the provider or the ADA CERP at ada.org/cerp. Collect More Continuing Education Credits After the ASM! Why struggle to line up for courses at the ASM? If you were not able to get tickets to your favourite speakers at the ASM, now you view the most-popular courses virtually by purchasing the Best Value Package for $95 prior to May 4. This on-demand component of ASM22 will be available post-event, from May 16–31. Access courses post-ASM anytime, anywhere 24/7, and earn additional continuing education credits. If you miss the advance registration date for the Best Value Package, you can still purchase an upgrade to the Best Value Package at on-site registration for $149. You can only purchase the Best Value Package with your general registration fee or by upgrading your registration on-site at the ASM. The attendance verification for the courses can be sent to membership@agd.org by the AGD member to get the credits from AGD descriptors. Out-Of-Province/Country Dentists Out-of-province dentists must verify their continuing education requirements with their respective provincial regulatory authority and submit their own attendance verification. Dental Assistants, Office Personnel Members of the Ontario Dental Assistants Association (ODAA) can earn four (4) continuing education credits to a maximum of eight (8) credits per day. Sign in at the ODAA Booth 309 on Thursday, May 5, and Friday, May 6, from 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, or submit the attendance verification you receive from the ODA after the ASM. Dental Hygienists Supporting documentation for the Quality Assurance Program at the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO) could include, but is not limited to, your ASM name badge and the ASM Show Guide , which includes the speakers’ biographies and course descriptions. General Information Courses are located at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building. However, due to expanded programming, some courses will be located in the North Building. Accessibility The ODA is committed to complying with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act , 2005, and will provide reasonable accommodations to persons with disabilities. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is a fully accessible facility. If you require an accommodation due to a disability during your time at ASM22 , please submit your requirements by email to Teresa Tomassetti at ttomassetti@oda.ca or by phone at 416-355-2259 in advance of the event, so arrangements can be made with the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Room Capacities Room capacities are set and enforced by the Fire Safety Officer of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the Toronto Fire Prevention Division, and they must be observed by the show organizers and by attendees. The Room Monitor has the responsibility for the meeting room capacities and to communicate to attendees when the meeting room is full. Please do not block the aisles, and there is no standing room in the meeting rooms. We ask for your cooperation in helping us to comply with these requirements. Meeting Rooms Important: to avoid food odours and to maintain health and safety, no food is allowed in the meeting rooms, and face masks are strongly recommended. Room Monitors have been instructed not to allow people with food into the meeting room. We would ask that you take any garbage with you when you leave the meeting room as a consideration to other attendees, as there is no scheduled cleaning service between courses. Coffee Breaks Most courses are 2.5 hours in length in the morning and afternoon. There are no scheduled breaks during the courses. Food and Beverage Outlets A variety of food and beverage selections will be available for purchase during the standard operating hours of the ASM. The accepted methods of payment at these outlets include cash, debit, VISA, Mastercard and American Express. To maintain safety and for your comfort, please consume food only in designated eating areas. Wi-Fi Stay connected at the ASM! Free Wi-Fi will be available during ASM22 throughout the public areas of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building. Media Policy Any member of the media who wants access to the ASM must be approved and accredited in advance by the ODA. All ASM22 attendees, exhibitors and speakers should direct any and all media requests or enquiries to Maggie Blood at mblood@oda.ca. Our ODA on-site show management office is located on 700 Level, in Room 703, and staff will help locate her.

Child Policy With the exception of babies (under the age of 12 months) in arms on the Exhibits Floor, children under the age of 16 are not permitted at the ASM. Babies in arms are not permitted in the meeting rooms when courses are taking place. For safety reasons, no strollers are permitted on-site at the ASM. Parents with babies in arms should make arrangements in advance, including having access to a baby carrier. There is no on-site child care available at the ASM. Check with your hotel concierge if child care is required. Please note: if an attendee arrives at the ASM with a child who needs child care, they will not be permitted to enter the event under any circumstances. There are no exceptions. Room 833 on 800 Level will be available for the convenience of nursing mothers. Videotaping/Photography Please email the request and information to Vicky Hatzopoulos at vhatzopoulos@ oda.ca. Important: to receive confirmation of your registration and an attendance verification, you must provide an email address for each registrant on the registration form. Complete the form to receive your letter of invitation. This invitation letter does not in any way financially obligate the ODA. Important: the ODA does not assist attendees with visa applications. That is the sole responsibility of the applicant. Cancellation/Refund Policy Requests for cancellations and refunds for conference registrations and paid courses had to be submitted in writing to the ODA by March 30, 2022. Refund requests received after this date or refunds of less than $50 will not be granted. Unusual requests for refunds will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and will be at the discretion of the ODA. Requests for refunds must include the badge(s) and tickets returned to the ODA. No refunds will be granted unless the badge(s) and tickets are returned at the Debit Desk located on-site in the registration area, 600 Level. A $50 administration fee will be applied to all refunds. Refunds will be processed by May 30, 2022. Please note that no refunds will be issued on-site at the ASM. Substitutions Substitutions requests must be made in writing by March 30, 2022, by 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Substitutions can be made on-site at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building starting on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. After the April 4 mailing date, badge(s) and tickets can be picked up on-site. You also have the option of bringing the old badge(s) and tickets with you to the Customer Service Desk in the registration area of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building, 600 Level, starting on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, after 3:00 pm. Any changes to ticketed courses can be done online in the Registration Resource Centre or visit asm.oda.ca . Please note that substitutions can only be made within the same registration category. For example, a registration for an ODA member dentist can only be substituted by another ODA member dentist. Lost Badge and Ticket Replacement The replacement fee for lost badges or tickets is $15. Registration Categories Everyone must register in their professional category. Registration Types Description Ontario Dentists and Dental Students • ODA Dentist • ODA 50-Year/ Honorary Dentist • ODA Dental Student To attend ASM22, Ontario dentists and dental students must be ODA members. Membership dues for 2021–22 must be current to register. You must provide your ODA membership number.

Dentists from outside of Ontario must register in the Out-of-Province/Country (D) category. You must have a practice address outside of Ontario in order to complete the registration. Other oral health professionals, including dental hygienists, dental assistants/ office personnel and dental technologists, must register in their respective professional category. To register as a student, you must be enrolled in a full-time dental or oral health professional program. You must provide your school name and student number. Official documentation may be required. This pass is available to ODA member dentists only. Exhibits-Only registrants cannot access any courses. Members may assign this pass to only one member of their dental team. All dental team registration categories can add the virtual on-demand ASM22 with our Best Value Package. Valued at $95 at advance registration, or $149 for an on-site purchase, the package includes several on-demand video courses available post- ASM22 , from May 16–31, 2022.

Safety Measures During the Event: • Hand-sanitizer stations are available throughout the facility at entrances and in high-contact areas, such as entrance-ways, including the Exhibits Floor. Please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer frequently throughout the day. • Please pay attention to event signage as a reminder of the on-site health and safety protocols. • The Metro Toronto Convention Centre reports that it uses cleaning products that meet or exceed local, provincial and federal guidelines regarding effectiveness against viruses, bacteria and other airborne and blood-borne pathogens.It reports that it has highly effective air filters in all HVAC systems and has increased the cleaning frequency of the air-handling units and volume of fresh-air intake. • First-aid personnel are on-site at ASM22 in the North and South buildings to help with first-aid requirements and other medical emergencies. • As a precaution, we encourage you to limit touchpoints throughout the facilities. Cash payments are not accepted on the Exhibits Floor and we encourage you to use our cashless payment systems at registration.
