This course will explore how conventional and CBCT imaging contribute to diagnosis in everyday dental practice. Guidelines for radiographic prescription, quality assurance and how not to miss important findings will be discussed. Common pathologies and when to seek further advice will be reviewed. Learning Objectives: • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of 2D and 3D imaging in general dental practice • Understand how to reliably take and systematically review a panoramic image • Recognize common pathologies verses normal anatomy on a panoramic image and when to seek advice

Dr. Anthea Senior graduated from the University of Newcastle (U.K.) in 1992 and worked as a general dentist for the following nine years. She joined the University of Alberta in 2003 and is an Associate professor, Division of Radiology, at the School of Dentistry. Dr. Senior lectures to both dental and dental hygiene students and regularly supervises radiology technique and interpretation in clinical and laboratory settings.
