This interactive course is designed to review oral lesions and dental therapeutics that oral-care providers commonly encounter in a community practice. This course will reinforce the chairside techniques for head- and-neck, and intra-oral examinations. Techniques for written and photo documentation of oral lesions will also be discussed. The visual presentation and hands-on demonstrations of adjunctive evaluation tools will assist in making these topics interesting and educational. Topics include common benign oral lesions, microbial infections and oral precancerous lesions. Learning Objectives: • Consolidate the clinical technique of performing an extra-oral and intra-oral soft-tissue examination • Diagnosis and treat non-odontogenic oral lesions commonly identified in a community setting • Recognize oral lesions/entities that should be red flags and discuss the proper initial management

Dr. Samson Ng is a Canadian and American board-certified specialist in oral medicine, and oral and maxillofacial pathology. He graduated from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and completed a post-graduate hospital residency in the General Practice and Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology residency program at UBC/ Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). He is Clinical Associate professor at the UBC, attending staff at the Department of Dentistry of the VGH and attending staff in the Program of Oral Oncology/Dentistry in the BC Cancer Agency.
