Speaker Handouts The ODA has an ongoing focus on reducing waste at the ASM. With the support of ASM speakers, the ODA continues its commitment to be as green as possible for ASM22 by providing speaker handouts for download from the ASM website at asm.oda.ca . Not all speakers provide handouts. Handouts will be available for download in mid-April 2022 until July 31, 2022. CE Credits and Attendance Verification ODA MEMBER DENTISTS How many CE credits can I earn at the ASM? You can earn three (3) credits per half day of the ASM, to a maximum of 18 CE credits over the three days. However, some clinical hands-on workshops include bonus credits (as indicated in the program under the course descriptor). CE credits fall under the RCDSO Quality Assurance categories. Category 1: core courses (includes independent assessment) Category 2: clinical courses Category 3: practice management, personal development and general attendance on the Exhibits Floor You cannot earn CE credits for both the Exhibits Floor and courses during the same half day. Examples: • If a dentist attends a half day course in the morning (3 CE credits) and a half day workshop (3 CE credits) with 1 bonus credit in the afternoon, they can earn 7 CE credits for the day. • If a dentist attends a Category 1 (Core) course in the morning and visits the Exhibits Floor in the afternoon, they can earn 3 CE credits in Category 1 and 3 CE credits in Category 3. How is my attendance verified? Scanning is used to verify attendance at the ASM. Dentists must scan in to all courses they attend in order to receive CE credits. For Category 1 (Core) courses, ODA member dentists are required to scan in and complete an independent assessment at the end of the course and then scan out. Holding a ticket for a course does not qualify you for CE credits, unless you have scanned in and out, as outlined under the “Continuing Education” segment of the Show Guide . Important: if you do not scan in (and, where required, scan out) to courses, the ODA has no other way of verifying your attendance at a course. Continuing Education
