As oral health care professionals, we are in a unique position to provide our patients with the highest degree of preventive care. We need to be knowledgeable about the multi-faceted world of systemic health and how it may impact our patients overall health and well-being. Dentistry isn’t just about the mouth: it’s about the whole patient. We will explore the practical application of diet, as it pertains to dental health and patient care. Learning Objectives: • Discuss diet and nutrition as they relate to proper maintenance of oral health and overall health • Discuss scientific evidence presented in the literature regarding nutrition and oral health • Relate the importance of diet to dental patients during oral health care appointments
