Botox: An Introduction for the Dental Team

This course will introduce the essentials of botulinum toxins. Dentists will gain a practical understanding of how Botox can be used within the RCDSO guidelines. Emphasis will be placed on patient selection and injection technique to optimize clinical outcomes for dental patients. Practitioners will gain an understanding of how to handle the products, how to select cases and what injection techniques will maximize therapeutic success without compromising esthetics in cosmetically sensitive areas. Learning Objectives: • To give attendees an understanding of the pharmacology of botulinum toxin and its physiologic interactions through a review of relevant literature that supports the use of botulinum toxin • To make attendees comfortable in case selection and technique for the safe and effective administration of botulinum toxin • To thoroughly understand the RCDSO guidelines and how they are applied in a clinical context

Dr. Brian Freund is qualified as a dentist and physician in Ontario. He received his medical degree from McMaster University and received his dental and specialist training at the University of Toronto. He presently practices as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, with a special interest in pain and minimally invasive facial rejuvenation.
