Dr. Wendy Thompson is a clinical and academic general dentist at University of Manchester (England) with an academic focus on antibiotic prescribing and stewardship. Dr. Thompson is a member of the FDI World Dental Federation science committee and chair of its antibiotics subgroup. In 2021, she presented at the International Association for Dental Research (Boston) and World Dental Congress (Sydney) about antibiotics and the impact of COVID-19 on dentistry. Dr. Jerome Leis is an Infectious Diseases physician and Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, as well as Associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. His research is focused on the development of new models of care to reduce the risk of health care-associated infection and to promote the judicious use of antimicrobial therapy. Since 2017, Dr. Leis has served as the physician lead for ‘Using Antibiotics Wisely’, a national campaign of Choosing Wisely Canada to leverage antimicrobial stewardship efforts in the community.
