Restorative Controversies in Implant Dentistry
Nader M. Sharifi, DDS, MS
Controversies exist because there is more than one accepted method available. When challenged with many methods, why not use evidenced- based dentistry and clinical success to make the best decisions? We’ll review when screw-retained restorations are indicated and how to complete them. While it has been recommended to avoid cementing restorations, they remain a required solution under certain indications. Therefore, a thorough understanding of when and how to properly complete the clinical procedure for screw-retained, angulated screw channel and screwmentable restorations will all be clearly outlined. Many other restorative implant controversies will be discussed in this all-day course. This interactive discussion of controversies is geared to restorative dentists and their surgical partner. Learning Objectives: • Longevity of treatment options for single crowns, short and long bridges on teeth and implants • Cemented versus screw-retained crowns and bridges • Clarification of acrylic, monolithic zirconia, ceramic and mixed solutions for implant bridges
