Beauty day... giving back
I believe in giving to others first. So I chose to share my gift and tal- ent to help other women and in- spire them. Together we all shine with our own uniqueness and brightness. I wanted to empower and bring strenght to a special group of women. When I got the idea for Beauty Day, I had to act right away. So I contacted Céline Pelletier and Sylvie Gravel at Interlude House (a shelter for women victims of domestic violence) to propose my idea. They were very receptive and saidYES right away. Together they went over their list of clients inviting the ones that would benefit the most. La Maison Interlude made it happen in such a wonderful way. Josée, Hélène and Manon drove the ladies to Embrun all the way from Hawkesbury and Rockland. It was easy to find help. I needed to make this day an amazing experience for them. Angela Magliocco from Arbonne did their make-up. Marie-France Quesnel from Tesoro did their nails. Joanie Marion, Isabelle Quesnel and Martine Lanthier from HairSalon LOVE did their hair. Maryse Lapalme from Gourmet Academy prepared lunch for the volun- teers. I also contacted local beauty sal- ons and gift shops for donations. Each woman had a beauty bag full of surprises.
Thanks to Bay Street Spa, Création Su- zanne, Tesoro, Esthétique pour Vous, Studio Shantaly, Le Bel Ortie and myself. It was a day full of emotions and also an eye-opener to see this side of their lives and to discover that any type of women could be living with abuse. When these women use the shel- ter, they are so brave as they have made the first and hardest step. One of my clients heard about the event and wanted to participate in her own way so she sent a rose for each woman with a little note that touched everyone deeply. This is why I do what I do! If I can inspire one person to do something good for an- other, my life purpose is accomplished. As women, we need to stick together so we can learn from others to grow. It was so rewarding to see their beautiful smiles and a total change of attitude as they transformed from their before and after. With some pampering they were all glow- ing and coming out of their cocoons. Our goal was to let their inner beauty glow and enjoy an experience and just some of the kindness they are entitled to.
