NO BEST SELLER Princeton University Press recently published a book which not one single person can read. As a matter of fact no one could read it even when it was published. Obviously the volume will never become a best seller. The pub lishers, with an annual budget of one and a half million dollars aren’t con cerned about the cost. Herbert S. Baily, director, reports that back in 1951 the edition, “The Pyloss Tablets” was first issued. I t is a transcription of an unknown language found in ancient Greek ruins on clay tablets. Of course, the university is hopeful that some day a scholar might even tually be able to decipher the strange hierglyphics. How wonderful to know that the blessed Word of God can not only be read but also readily understood by every individual. Yet, how often is the Bible like the Pyloss Tablets in our homes? While we could read and understand it, we seldom open its pages. The Word of God tells us that, “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are. foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spir itually discerned.” What does the Bible mean to you? * * * Anger is the wind that blows out the light of reason. * * * PRICELESS PEARLS An interesting statistic has been reported in that more than 86 million strands of pearls were sold last year ranging from $2.98 to $350.00 25

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME?

A recent newspaper article tells of the passing of an 80-year old man who had kept a detailed record of what he had done during each hour of every day for the eight decades of his life. Can you imagine doing this? In any case, with this supposed accurate diary, he figured out that he had spent over 26 years in sleep, 21 years work ing, 228 days shaving and HO days paying bills. In addition he declared he also spent 26 days scolding his children and 2 days yelling at his dog. One further entry was that he spent only 26 hours laughing. Naturally we wonder just how accurate that survey was. But think of computing the fact that he had spent more days scolding his children and yelling at his dog than he had in laughing. Certainly this shouldn’t be true of one who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as per sonal Saviour. There can be true re joicing in the salvation full and free which He has provided. Many Chris tians are not the bright and shining testimonies they could be, simply be cause of “grouchy” dispositions. This causes people to turn away from the Gospel, rather than seeking that same joy which would cause them to look for the peace Christ promises to give us in His Word. Yes, we can have the wonderful peace of God that pass- eth all understanding and that thereby will keep our hearts and m in d s through Christ Jesus our Lord. * * * Blaming your faults on your nature doesn't change the nature of your faults.
