“A feast for the senses”

Job Fair returns Back by popular demand, the second annual Job Fair organized by the Em- ployment Services Centre will be held March 2 at La Cité Golf Club in Hawkes- bury and March 9 at the Outaouais Golf Club in Rockland. For information, call Murielle Hu- neault-Pilon at 613-632-0179 for the Hawkesbury event and Carolyne Ga- gnon (613-446-4189) for the Rockland fair. The first edition last year was a huge success, attracting about 550 visitors and 23 employers. The fair is sponsored by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Eastern On- tario Training Board and the Compagnie d’Édition André Paquette Inc. Homeopathy talk Goudula Bauer speaks on homeopa- thy February 9 at Arbor Gallery, 36 Home Ave., Vankleek Hill. Part of the Speaker Se- ries, the talk will address homeopathy as part of a balanced medical approach. For more information, phone (613) 678- 5086 or visit www.arborgallery.org or www. vankleekhill.ca/events. Homeopathy is not the “be-all and end-all” for every- one, Bauer emphasizes, noting the best prescription is likely a balance between homeopathy and more conventional methods. Sleep deprivation, headaches, increased blood pressure, depression, weight gain and nutritional deficiencies are some of the conditions that can be treated by homeopathy.

Gord Patterson of McCrimmon’s Corners and owner of Gordz Hot Sauce was one of over 90 vendors at the Living Locally Fair held by the Russell Horticultural So- ciety in Russell. The fair has become a much-anticipated annual event held the third Saturday in January to showcase lo- cal producers.

“Well we forgot to count exactly how many people showed up, but we know it was our best Robbie Burns Brunch ever,”Frances Fraser says of the celebration inDalkeith. She is shown here playing the pipes as the haggis is paraded into the village library. Haggis bearers Allan Campbell and Stewart Irvine were followed by Jim Finlayson, who would address the “Great Chieftain o’ the pudding race” in fine fashion, and Di- armid Campbell, who would lead the toast to Robbie Burns.
