It was a good weekend at home for the Rockland Nationals. The junior C hockey club notched another win on its season scorecard in the National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL).The Nats took down l’Académie Jr. Outaouais 5-3 Sunday afternoon in their sole game of the Jan. 23 weekend. Jeff Brett punched in a pair of goals for Rockland and helped out on another point- score. Joining him on the scoring with solo goals were Vincent Martel, Garrett Reed and Nickolas Spirito. Martel also helped on one of the other Nats goals. Scorign assists also came from Paul Armstrong, and Raphael Payant. Daylon Courchène warded the net for Rockland in Sunday’s game. Scoring for l’Académie wereMaxime Joly, Paul Markhauser, and Gabriel Niqiq-Tolley. Assisting on the scoring were Tristan Loo- mis, Christopher Payette, Nolan Peck, and Nicholas Pinkerton. Guarding the goal was
Marc-Olivier Landry. Last game of January for the Nats is home Sunday, at 2:30 p.m., against Gatineau-Hull Volant. Rockland has two games on next month’s schedule with Feb. 7 away to Papi- neauville against the Vikings and then clo- ser to home on Feb. 14 in St-Isidore for an evening game against the Aigles.
CIHA Seven at All-Star Showcase The Canadian International Hockey Academy (CIHA) provided a lucky-seven squad of some of its top players for the Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) inaugural All-Star Winter Showcase at the Bell Sensplex on Jan. 25. The CIHA contingent on the roster includes Major Bantam AAA players Dimitri Levesque, Edward Bradley, and Thomas Odermatt, Midget AAA Semen Der-Arguchinstev, Pavel Gogolev, Matthew Grouchy, and Jacob Robert. The HEO event features the top players from six leagues, including the Central Canada Hockey League. – Gregg Chamberlain
