Our Own Personal Way of Honoring Memorial Day

A Big Thanks to Ernest Flores and All Other Past, Present, and Future Soldiers

While official origins of Memorial Day vary, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, Major General John A. Logan declared that Decoration Day should be observed on May 30 as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the dead with flowers. It is believed that date was chosen because flowers would be in bloom all over the country. Since all of us at the firm plan to set aside some time this Memorial Day to honor the soldiers who sacrificed their lives to keep our country safe, I figured it’d be a great time to highlight a recent successful case where we were able to help former U.S. Army infantryman Ernest Flores. Our team at Kevin Patrick Law looks forward to supporting Ernest as he re-enlists in the Air Force. He starts off this enlistment knowing that the country he is fighting for has a solid civil justice system he can believe in. Thank you to Ernest and to all of the members of the military for your allegiance and strength to your country and your fellow countrymen. We are forever grateful for all your hard work and sacrifices. Happy Memorial Day.

Anyone who has ever been in a car accident knows that the recovery process (which often includes substantial medical bills) is time consuming and difficult. Fortunately, the initial jury decided in Ernest’s favor. Then, we had a separate, bifurcated trial to determine whether or not there should be attorney fees assessed against the insurance company.
