During the week of January 6 to 13, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) detachment officers responded to 199 occurrences, laying 23 charges, includ- ing two for impaired driving. Drug charge At 3:40 a.m. January 12, officers inter- cepted a Mazda Protégé 2001. Carl Lapen- sée, 23, of Hamilton Street, Hawkesbury was charged with driving while his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit, pos- session of marijuana, and failure to have an insurance card. His vehicle was seized for seven days and his driver’s licence immedi- ately suspended for 90 days. Collision leads to charge Shortly after 2 a.m. January 13, Hawkes- bury O.P.P. officers were alerted by the Sûreté du Québec of a collision that oc- curred in the province of Québec. Con- stables John Léger and Chantal Duchesne intercepted the vehicle on the Long Sault Bridge in Hawkesbury. Guy Rozon, 48, of Saint-Lazare, was charged with driving while his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit. His vehicle was seized and his driver’s licence immediately suspended for 90 days. Ottawa man pleads guilty to assault An Ottawa man has pleaded guilty to sexual assault after a woman was attacked last summer in Alfred-Plantagenet. Jacques Rouschop, 41, who is currently in jail in Ot- tawa, was sentenced to six months in pris- on after pleading guilty in L’Orignal court Tuesday. The assault occurred August 22 in Curran. Court was told that Rouschop had brought a sex trade worker from Ottawa to Curran where he had assaulted her. The 23-year-old woman was able to free herself from her aggressor and sought refuge in a nearby business where police were called for assistance. Rouschop also faces sexual assault and choking charges in connection with attacks on women in the sex trade in Ottawa.
