If you have a drug or alcohol problem that has not resulted in and is not the immediate subject of disciplinary action, you may request approval to take unpaid time off to participate in a rehabilitation or treatment program. Employees who are eligible for FMLA/CFRA leave will be granted such leave. Leave for employees not eligible for FMLA/CFRA l eave may be granted if you agree to abstain from use of the problem substance, you abide by all school policies, rules, and prohibitions relating to conduct in the workplace, and if granting the leave will not cause the School undue hardship. Employees with questions or concerns about substance dependency or abuse are encouraged to discuss these matters with their supervisor or the Head of School to receive assistance or referrals to appropriate resources in the community. If you have questions on this policy or issues related to drug or alcohol use in the workplace you may discuss them with the Head of School without fear of reprisal. Personnel files are the property of CSB, and access to the information contained therein is restricted. No employee can change any items that are contained in his or her personnel file. A list of employee telephone numbers is maintained at the school for the purpose of contacting employees for business purposes. Employees using this information inappropriately may face disciplinary action up to and including termination. It is the responsibility of each individual staff member to notify the business office whenever there are changes in personal data, such as mailing addresses, telephone numbers, marital status, and emergency contact information. With 30 days’ written notice, an employee may review material in his or her personnel file, but only in the school’s offices and in the presence of an individual appointed by the school. Alternatively, an employee may request a copy of his or her personnel file. All medical records, if any, will be kept in a separate confidential file. The school will keep this information in the strictest confidence and may not use or disclose medical information about an employee without the employee first having signed an authorization form permitting such use or disclosure, unless such disclosure is required under applicable law. Only the Headmaster or Division Directors are authorized to provide information of any kind regarding current or former employees. Such information includes letters of recommendation and reference requests. Personnel Records & References

Employment Outside of CSB

CSB staff members are allowed to work outside of the school as long as (1) that work doesn’t interfere with job responsibilities at CSB, and (2) does not create a conflict of interest with current CSB students, parents, or staff. For this reason, employees should not
