2019 OLD-FASHIONED FOURTH OF JULY Where: The City of Lewes When: July 4, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission: Free! Website: LewesChamber.com/events The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate America’s independence, and what better way to do that than with games, parades, and of course, fireworks! Old-fashioned games will be available along Second Street starting at 9 a.m. for children of all ages and will be followed by the city of Lewes’ annual Boat and Doo-Dah Parades. Starting from Roosevelt Inlet, the Boat Parade will travel along the Lewes Canal toward the Savannah Road drawbridge, and the Doo-Dah Parade will start near Lloyd’s Market and loop through the city. At dusk, the fireworks will be set off from a barge just off of Lewes Beach.
SEA GLASS AND COASTAL ARTS FESTIVAL Where: Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal When: June 22–23 Admission: $5 (free for children under 12) Contact: 302-645-7670 For its 10th anniversary this year, Lewes will host over 70 sea-glass artists, as well as waterfowl painters and decoy carvers. Guests attending the event are welcome to browse the artists’ wares, listen to live music, enjoy an array of delicious foods, and learn the history of sea glass. The public is also encouraged to bring their own findings of sea glass to this event to have them identified.
SUMMER ARTS IN THE PARK Where: Brecknock County Park When: Every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Admission: Free! Website: Facebook.com/KCPLibrary Join Kent County Public Library for an evening of family fun! All families are welcome to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets and sit down and enjoy themselves while Kent County’s favorite bands, singers, and performers hit the stage. Expect to see Mike Hines, The Look, Best Kept Soul, Deb & Mike, Cascading Carlos, and many other performers.
