Working to restore a neglected shoreline just north of Shanghi this master plan combines a jobs and education hub with active restoration of the marine ecology. The judges recognized the complexity of blending the development of an urban core with the goal of revitalizing the neglected coastline and noted the use of tidal flow to keep the canal system viable for both human and marine life. Pulling the higher density elements back from the coast and keeping it as a pedestrian focused environment reinforces the goal of creating a seaside eco-resort.
