Using the D2L Learning Management System at HCC The D2L Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) is e-learning software utilized by Hagerstown Community College (HCC) for the course management of online, hybrid and certain in-person classes. D2L Access and Login Information For D2L access and information, please visit https://www.hagerstowncc.edu/academics/distance-education/d2l. This page can be found in the Quick Links section at the top left of the HCC homepage under D2L LMS. Alternatively, if you are logged in to My HCC Portal, you may click on the D2L/Brightspace card. First-Time Student Users Login • USERNAME: You must use your whole email address as your username in the format of username@student.hagerstowncc.edu. Your username can be found on your acceptance letter. • PASSWORD: You cannot log in using your temporary activation password, which is the password that starts with a $. If you currently have a temporary activation password, you must activate your account and change your password at https://www.hagerstowncc.edu/change. • If you need assistance resetting your password, you may contact the HCC IT Department at hccit@hagerstowncc.edu or at 240-500-2891. From the D2L login page, type in your email address as the username and enter your updated HCC password, then click on the Log in button. Once you log in to D2L, you will see any courses available to you on the system homepage in the “My Courses” widget or from the “Select a course” icon at the top of the page. Click on the linked title of a course to access the course homepage and materials. Please note the following: • D2L accounts are only created for users who are registered for at least one course using the D2L LMS. • Updates to D2L enrollment should be processed within one business day of student registration activity. • Students will only be able to access course sites that have been activated by your instructor, which typically happens 3 business days prior to the start of the semester. If your instructor has not activated your course site or contacted you by the first day of class, please reach out to them directly for clarification.
