This haircut cost a lot
Six lucky students got to snip off the first locks of hair because they were the biggest fundraisers of all, amassing more than $1,000 between them. What kid hasn’t dreamed of getting to shave the school principal bald? At St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School in Rockland, onMay 13, that dream came true, sort of, for half a dozen students but it was all for a good cause. As to their very successful annual walkathon earlier this month, St. Pat’s picked up the gauntlet that their principal, Garry Curtis, threw down when he dared them to raise more than a couple thousand dollars for the privilege of seeing himget his head shaved.The end result was $5,002 in pledges collected fromall the classes with themoney divided up between the Canadian Cancer Society, the Mood Disorders Society of Canada, and various school sports and community programs and projects.
