Welcome Center at the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange officially broke ground with the help of special guest Governor Chris Chris- tie during a press conference hosted by County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 9:30 amat the Essex County South Mountain Recreation Complex. The Zoo’s continued popular- ity as a major tourist destina- tion was the thrust behind the park’s new Education + Welcome Center. It features four classrooms, animal hold- ing rooms and indoor-outdoor exercise pens, garage for ani- mal loading and unloading for mobile exhibits, ticketing windows, gift shop, and exhibit area. A new rooftop plaza also serves as an outdoor classroom designed to accommodate 150 people with views of the recon- structed TreeTop Adventure Course. The facility serves a secondary purpose as a sec- ond entrance to this popular destination – a safer and more efficient alternative to enter the park when arriving by bus or when using the adjacent parking structure. n HFF secures $5.8 million financing for Franklin Square SC in Essex County Essex County, NJ — HFF has secured $5.8 mil- lion in financing for Franklin Square Shopping Center, a 51,911 s/f community shopping center on the border of Bloom- field and Belleville. Working on behalf of The Hampshire Companies , HFF placed the five-year, fixed-rate loanwith a TriState Capital Bank . Loan proceeds were used to refinance existing debt on the property. The HFF team representing The Hampshire Companies was led by director Michael Klein and senior managing director Jon Mikula . “The borrower needed to close this loan within a short time frame,” said Klein. “TriState Capital stepped up with a very competitive rate and structure and was able to close the loan within 30 days.” n
