La Corporation du Sentier récréatif de Prescott-Russell, en partenariat avec les Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell et de la Fondation Trillium de l’Ontario, travaillent présentement à l’élaboration d’un Plan Stratégique pour un réseau cyclable régional. Accidentally at the age of 78 years, on August 31, 2013, in front of his residence in Lachute, has passed away Mr. Denis Saint-Jacques, beloved spouse of Lucie Raymond, son of the late Aristide Saint-Jacques and the late Eugenie Plouffe. In addition to his bereaved spouse, he is deeply mourned by his son Alain (Hélène Lalonde) and his daughter Chantal (Éric Martin), his grand- children Guillaume (Stéphanie Champagne), Katherine, François-Xavier Raymond, Raphaël and Guillaume Martin. He is also deeply mourned by his brothers and sisters, Marcel (Ann Small), Liette (Reid Bellefleur), Lise (Stephen Griffiths), the late Monique and her late spouse Douglas Raymond, and Germain as well as many nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, parents and friends. A man of courage and determination with a fighting spirit, Mr. Saint-Jacques suffered from multiple sclerosis during many decades. A retiree of the business world, he had a passion for current affairs and was greatly involved in community organizations in Lachute where he served his fellow citizens for over 50 years, principally as editor of L’Argenteuil and The Watchman newspapers. He also served as volunteer firefighter for the Lachute Fire Department, he received an honorary medal from the Royal Canadian Armed Forces for his 22 years of loyal services enroled as reserve officer, many of which as commander of the Lachute Air Cadets Squadron, as well as receiving the Medal of Honour attributed during the 25th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth for his implication as volunteer in Lachute. The remains will be lying in state at Salon Roland Ménard, on Friday, September 6, from 2.00 P.M. to 5 P.M. and from 7 P.M. to 9:30 P.M., and on Saturday September 7, at 9:30 A.M. Denis Saint- Jacques âgé de 78 ans, époux bien aimé de Lucie Raymond et fils de feu Aristide Saint-Jacques et de feue Eugénie Plouffe. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants Alain (Hélène Lalonde) et Chantal (Eric Martin), ses petits- enfants Guillaume (Stéphanie Champagne), Katherine, François-Xavier Raymond, Raphaël et Guillaume Martin. Il laisse également dans le deuil ses frères et soeurs Marcel (Ann Small), Liette (Reid Bellefleur), Lise (Stephen Griffiths), feue Monique (feu Douglas Raymond) et Germain ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces, beaux- frères et belles-soeurs, parents et amis. Homme de courage et de détermination, combattant la sclérose en plaques depuis plusieurs décennies, M. Saint-Jacques était retraité du monde des affaires publiques. Passionné de l’actualité et grandement impliqué au sein d’organismes communautaires lachutois, il aura été au service de la population pendant plus de 50 ans, principalement en tant qu’éditeur des journaux L’Argenteuil et The Watchman. Également, il a été pompier volontaire au sein du Service de sécurité incendie de Lachute, il a été décoré des Forces canadiennes pour ses 22 années de bons et loyaux services, enrôlé comme officier de réserve dont plusieurs années en tant que commandant de l’Escadron des cadets de l’air de Lachute et a été décoré de la médaille du 25e anniversaire d’intronisation de la Reine Elizabeth pour son implication bénévole dans la région de Lachute. La dépouille sera exposée le vendredi 6 septembre de 14 h à 17 h et de 19 h à 21 h 30 et le samedi 7 septembre à compter de 9 h 30.
