52-year-old man had assaulted his mother. The accused was taken into custody for a show-cause hearing scheduled for April 22. He has been charged with assault related to the original complaint and also with breach of a probation order.

Cocaine charge An OPP patrol along Emerald Street in Rockland pulled a car over for a vehicle infraction. While talking to the driver the officer noted a tell-tale smell coming from inside the car. A vehicle search turned up a quantity of cocaine. A 22-year-old Gatineau man now faces charges of possession of cocaine and fail- ure to comply with a police request. His companion, another 22-year-old Gatineau man, is also charged with failure to comply with a police request and failure to comply with a legal undertaking. Both will appear in provincial court in L’Orignal June 5 on the charges. Domestic break-in A Rockland man has a court appearance in L’Orignal in May after his ex-partner charged him with break-and-enter. OPP answered a domestic dispute call April 19 at a home on St-Jean Street in Rock- land. The woman who phoned in the com- plaint said her ex-partner had tried to force his way into the house. Police have now charged a 28-year-old man with two counts of domestic mischief, one charge of break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, and one charge of assault. Domestic case A 26-year-old Rockland man will be in provincial court in L’Orignal May 8 following police investigation of a domestic dispute call April 16 at a home on St-Joseph Street. The man is charged with domestic mis- chief and with assault. Targets of the scam receive email alerts that they have missed making payments for their phone and/or Internet service and they need to act fast to ensure continued uninterrupted service. The scammer then asks for credit card in- formation sent back by return email. Police warn residents not to give out any personal information over the phone or the Internet without first checking to make sure the business query is legitimate.
