FRAIS DE GARDERIE : LE CONSEIL MUNICIPAL FAIT VOLTE-FACE

ont demandé à l’administration de la Cité de revenir avec d’autres options pour régler le déficit de 190 000 $. Par contre, les seules solutions comprenaient l’augmentation du taux de taxe municipale ou des coupes budgétaires. Lors de la dernière réunion, le lundi 7 mai, aucun conseiller n’était d’accord avec l’option d’augmenter le taux de taxe de la municipalité. L’administration a présenté une autre option qui consistait en certaines coupes dans le budget, mais aussi avec une hausse du taux de taxe. Finalement, la majorité des conseillers n’étaient pas d’accord avec une augmenta- tion de 11 % des frais de garderies, mais la décision a été prise malgré tout en raison de l’absence d’autres solutions. La hausse des frais de garderie devrait entrer en vigueur le 1 er juillet 2018.
Le conseil municipal de Clarence- Rockland a fait volte-face relativement à l’augmentation des frais de garderie de 2 %. L’augmentation sera plutôt de 11 %. Les frais de garderies est l’un des sujets de prédilection depuis quelque temps. S’il n’y a pas d’augmentation, le budget 2018 ne sera pas équilibré. Lors de la dernière réunion du conseil municipal, le mardi 17 avril, une hausse des frais de garderie a été jugée nécessaire pour combler le déficit budgétaire. Mais tous les conseillers étaient d’avis qu’une augmentation de 11 % était trop élevée. Lors de cette réunion du 17 avril, les conseillers en sont venus à un compromis, soit une augmentation de deux pour cent. Ils
The Clarence-Rockland City Council went back on their decision for a two-per cent increase in daycare fees. The increase will now be 11 per cent . During the last Council meeting on Monday, May 7, no council members were comfortable with the option of increasing the municipality’s tax rate in order to resolve the deficit in the 2018 budget. The administration also presented another option that included some cuts in the budget, but also with a tax rate hike. In the end, the majority of councillors still disagreed with an 11 per cent increase in daycare fees, but the decision was made due to the lack of any other viable option. . —submitted photo
