will be able to identify the best treatment options for your body’s needs. Only a small percentage of people need referral to specialty services and imaging. This will likely include the following: • Guided movement exercises that are designed to reduce your pain level and location as well as improve range of motion in your back. These specific and targeted movements are individualized to your needs. • Education on modifying certain activities that could delay your healing process. This includes proper posture education, proper lifting and movement patterns to utilize as you heal. • Cardiovascular activity that can stimulate improved blood circulation to the affected areas of the back, targeted muscular strength to support the spine, and gradual guided return to daily and recreational activity safely.

Your back is one of the most active parts of your body. It is the foundation that your arms and legs function from. Your back steadies your body as you reach, lift, squat, and run. It supports a large amount of your body weight, even when you sit. Seeing how the back serves so many vital roles with everyday activity, it is no wonder that so many people experience back injuries every year. What is a big wonder is that many people choose to ignore their back injuries year after year. When you break an arm or get a cut on your leg, you are likely to do something about it right away. The sight of blood leaving your body or the realization that a bone isn’t sitting right is something that not many people are going to deal with for too long before seeking medical attention. Yet when pain begins in the back, it is almost normal to ignore it. Everyone develops back pain from time to time, right? There is no reason to seek treatment, right? Absolutely wrong. Understanding Back Pain Back pain may be common but it is absolutely not normal. Most back pain is mechanical, meaning when enough compression or tension is placed on an injured tissue it will cause pain. Early symptoms are pain and limited mobility. If these signs are ignored, the pain can worsen and eventually cause a nerve to become inflamed. When this occurs the pain can radiate into your leg as well and significantly limit your quality of life. The good news is that a majority of patients with back pain, and even back and leg pain, can see a rapid improvement in their condition after proper assessment and an appropriate exercise program is followed. An exercise program must be customized to the individual with pain. Your physical therapist

• Education on a maintenance program to prevent future recurrence of your pain once you have healed.

Working with a licensed and experienced physical therapist can provide you with the guidance and ongoing support that you need to ensure that you do not experience any further injury as you attempt to heal the cause of your back pain. If you or a loved one suffers from back pain, you still have options.

I absolutely love this place! It’s a family owned business and they’re very attentive to clients needs. They have a great space which includes both physical therapy and personal training. I recently visited for physical therapy to get some help with my IT Band issues. Rashmi really helped me with my injury with acknowledging where my weaknesses were and giving exercises to strengthen and stretches to relieve tightness. Thanks to the Vert family and Rashmi I’m back to running again. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. - Nicole L 3 4
