Sustainable alternative to stainless steel
Fibox polycarbonate enclosures are IP and IK-rated and are weatherproof, waterproof and UV-protected, but still easy to maintain. Plastic might have a bad reputation, but Fibox enclosures are designed to last for decades while being fully recyclable as well. See more advantages for using polycarbonate below: Price - Fibox polycarbonate enclosures are two or three times cheaper than stainless steel enclosures. Impact resistance - The polycarbonate material used by Fibox is very elastic and impacts don’t dent the surface the same way as in stainless steel. The Fibox Arca enclosures range, for example, features an IK10 impact rating, the same as stainless steel’s. Corrosion - Moisture and harshness in the surroundings are a real threat to any enclosure, but the ARCA IEC range is corrosion-free and can be used in many hazardous environments to keep valuables safe. UV-resistance - Many enclosures need to be in direct sunlight but, according to tests, Fibox polycarbonate enclosures withstand up to 25 years of UV radiation, keeping changes in the enclosure’s colour to a minimum. Customisation - Fibox polycarbonate saves time, effort and money. Compared to stainless steel, the material is easy to customize with common tools, like a regular drill, when wires and cables can come from any direction. Electrical insulation - Both stainless steel and polycarbonate enclosures and cabinets are almost maintenance- free and great for outdoor conditions. However, Fibox polycarbonate is excellent for corrosive environments and its strength properties are not affected by UV radiation. Weight - Fibox polycarbonate enclosures are lighter, so distributors save money on shipping. Lighter enclosures are also easier to install and carry around and lower logistics costs.
