A SINCERE THANK YOU

YOU MADE TEECO THE COMPANY WE ARE TODAY

In 1995, our team consisted of five people. We came from humble beginnings, serving local and regional customers only. Today, we have 48 hardworking people who come together on a daily basis to make sure our clients are getting the highest level of service. We’ve been able to serve over 350 customers worldwide and have an incredible 50,000 square foot facility. I don’t say this to brag or show you how much we’ve grown, but rather to say thank you. I’m sincerely grateful for every last person who has been a part of making Teeco Solutions the company of choice for their tent-cleaning needs. When we got into this industry, we weren’t sure what the future held. Every step of the way, good people were giving us a chance so that we could have the opportunity to succeed. If it wasn’t for the quality of our initial clients who started with us at the beginning, our business would not be where it’s at today. Our early days looked much different than the industry leader we are today. We started off with one machine, and that was it. If that went down, it was back to the drawing board. Every beginning has pain points. The definition of real success is how you work through those pain points. The personification of commitment is who works through them with you. We were fortunate to have people who shared our vision for what this company could be. They adapted with us as we developed and grew through each challenging moment.

Not every learning opportunity is provided by someone on your team. Our competitors helped us understand the marketplace, and I’m very thankful for the lessons I learned from them. The more you compete, the more you find out what customers want. But it’s not all competition. The industry we’re in is very small, and with that intimacy comes support. Without the feedback of quality people over the years, we couldn’t have gone anywhere. The amount of gratitude I have for how we got to where we are has me incredibly excited to see where we are going. In the next few months, we’ll be rolling out a new product line that is sure to wow our current clients. None of that happened by accident. Every member of our team is dedicated to providing exceptional service and creating outstanding experiences for our clients. Our company has changed since we first started, but none of that would be possible without the beautiful people we’ve had the pleasure to come in contact with. For those of you who have made Teeco Solutions the successful team we are today — employees, customers, competitors, vendors, manufacturing team, sales and marketing, and everyone else along the way — I am so grateful to have served you, and I look forward to doing so for many more years.

–Steve Arendt

HEAT UP THE SLOW MONTHS WITH A ‘WOW!’

A little customer appreciation can go a long way — after all, everyone likes to be treated well by the people they do business with. But if your appreciation stops at holiday cards and birthday offers, you might be missing the mark. Summer tends to be the slow season, so take the extra time to plan a new way to show customers you care.

• Plan an adults-only scavenger hunt. Include local landmarks, offer prizes, and provide grown-up beverages afterward to make the event really memorable.

• Throw a block party. This one requires some planning, but if you pull it off, your clients will talk about it until next summer!

HOST A SUMMER EVENT

DELIVER ONE BIG ‘WOW’

There’s no need to plan a black-tie gala. Summer is the season of relaxation, so keep it low-key, and let your clients know they are welcome to bring their friends and family. Here are a few fun ideas to consider:

Social media makes it pretty easy to keep up with everyone’s lives, so look for an opportunity to make a great impression on one customer. Maybe a client is expecting their first grandchild. Could they use a new stroller? Is a wedding anniversary coming up? Who wouldn’t love a limo ride and dinner at the nicest restaurant in the city? Go a bit over the top! People love to share stories on social media about the cool, unexpected things businesses do. Wouldn’t you like to go viral for a good reason?

• Host a barbecue at the office or local park. Make sure you have the proper permits first.

• Book a movie theater, and show the latest blockbuster. (We hear “Avengers: Infinity War” is pretty awesome.)

BUY LOCAL WHEN YOU’RE ABROAD

The virtues of buying locally sourced food and supporting small businesses have been widely extolled. But we rarely think to apply the same practices when we travel. Many Americans spring for all-inclusive packages when planning their next summer vacation, but doing so means they’ll miss out on some of the best aspects of the culture they’re visiting.

strike up a friendly conversation. You can make new friends around the globe and learn about their unique experiences. One of the most enriching experiences in life is meeting new people and gaining new perspectives.

ART

Part of the joy of traveling is having new experiences you can’t have at home. Whether you’re in another state or another country, you owe it to yourself to seek out the unique aspects of that location. But to find the character and quirks of your destination, you’ll have to explore beyond the hotel lobby. Why have a cheeseburger from a fast-food chain when you can try a local favorite? A great way to start is by asking your taxi driver or hotel concierge about their favorite place to eat. You’ll discover new foods and flavor combinations, and the locally owned restaurant is sure to appreciate your business! FOOD

MEMORIES

Just as your town probably has local artisans who produce unique and interesting work, the same is true for your vacation destination. Anyone can get a gift shop bauble that was mass-produced somewhere else. Take the time to peruse market stalls and craft fairs while you travel. It can lead you to some truly special souvenirs, and you’ll support the arts and traditions of the region!

Treasured memories are the best souvenir you can bring home from any vacation. So you owe it to yourself to get out and explore!

PEOPLE

While you’re out sampling local restaurants and exploring local markets, you’ll meet plenty of local people. Don’t be afraid to

Anchor Industries, Inc.

SEND CARDS FOR STRANGE HOLIDAYS

Sure, you mail cards during the winter holidays, but so does everyone else. Why not mail a card for National Doughnut Day on June 1? You can even include a coupon to a local doughnut shop. Or you can send a funny card with a picture of your office dog for National Mutt Day to announce that, thanks to your client’s support, your company is donating to a local animal shelter. These ideas may work great for your clients, or you might need to brainstorm a bit. Your clients are as unique as your company, so don’t hesitate to find a special way to show them you care.

Anchor Industries, Inc. is a company with a long history of quality products and services. Founded in 1892, Anchor Industries, Inc. began as a small riverboat supply house located on the Ohio River. Known then as Anchor Supply Company, the business furnished oil, groceries, paint, and other supplies to the steamboat trade. As the business grew, so did the demand for waterproof covers, so Anchor’s founder, Louis A. Daus, added canvas goods to the line of merchandise. The rest is history. Today, with 300 skilled workers and over 350,000 square feet of production capacity in Evansville, Indiana, Anchor is one of the world’s most respected producers of event, party, and wedding tents; awnings and outdoor fabric shade solutions; fabric buildings and structures; safety pool covers; fire shelters; military products; and other custom fabric and frame products. Anchor has pioneered numerous industry-changing innovations, including vinyl tent technology and aluminum frame tents. For decades, Anchor has set the standard for quality, design, and innovation, and they credit their long history to their talented employees and loyal customers. Anchor Industries, Inc. is known for their aesthetics, quality, durability, support, service, expertise, and partnership. Their products improve the quality of life for end users in commercial, residential, and government markets who spend time outdoors. TEECO’S TIPS

Stop Doing and Start Thinking! Down time is the perfect time to take a good, hard look at your overall operations, you know, really think about your methods and systems. When things get crazy busy during the season, are you a well-oiled machine, barely keeping up, or worse — constantly falling behind? If you don’t know what activities in your business are the most profitable for you, you might be doing the same wrong thing over and over again, and you may not be producing the profits that you need. So it’s important that you stop, take a break, and start thinking about what’s most profitable for your business. You must stop doing. You must measure progress. You must look at your numbers. You must analyze. And you must study ways to have the most profitable plan to move forward. You must set goals . If you’re completely lost about this, there are plenty of advisors out there who can help you. Other help could come in the form of your employees, your accountant, your lawyer, or anyone who understands productivity — but get people to help you! Otherwise, if we don’t stop and think, we don’t know what we don’t know. We’ll consistently think that we’re growing the business while we’re actually doing all the wrong things and not growing nearly as productively or as profitably as we potentially could. So stop. Think. Evaluate. Track. Assess. Work on your business while you have this down time; it’ll make a huge difference when you’re back to working in your business!

3 CAMPING TIPS FOR YOUR BEST ADVENTURE YET

Camping season is upon us. We all like to enjoy the scenery and adventure of the great outdoors with our families, but sometimes “roughing it” can be, well, rough. Luckily, a little prep goes a long way and can make camping more enjoyable for everyone. These three simple tips will let you spend more time soaking in the natural beauty around you and less time stressing about who brought the trail mix. DO YOUR RESEARCH Triple-checking your packing list won’t do you much good if you arrive at your destination and find it’s lacking some of the necessities you were counting on, such as water or restrooms. Campsites offer different amenities, and some can be quite meager. With a little research, you can find a spot that fits your family’s needs. Don’t want to pack in all your water? Find a site that has a pump. Are you bringing your dog? Look for

a site that’s pet-friendly. Prefer a cabin or yurt over pitching a tent? Plenty of locations have these options. Most U.S. Forest Service websites and state and national park resources include these details. By doing your homework, you can find and reserve the place that fits your priorities. PLAN A SIMPLE, TASTY MENU Nothing ends a camping trip as quickly as realizing you didn’t bring enough food. To avoid this, plan your menu with a few ready- made meals and some nonperishable items. Dutch oven meals and hot dogs roasted over the campfire are great options, and snacks such as trail mix and fruit are easy to store. Think about the meals you normally cook at home, then decide which are adaptable for the campsite. Once you’ve decided on the meals — which could be a fun opportunity for the kids to get involved in the preparation — make a list and head to the grocery store. As you pack,

make sure you have proper storage options for perishable and nonperishable items. If bears are a concern, think ahead about how you’ll safely store your food. PLAN ACTIVITIES — AND A FEW BACKUPS If it rains during the trip, don’t let the weather ruin your whole weekend. You may have to save fishing and hiking for another day, but there are still some activities you can enjoy in a sheltered area or a cozy tent. Bring along a few indoor activities, such as a deck of cards or games like Boggle, which require little equipment and can easily be stored in a backpack. To keep kids engaged outside, bring some picture books listing the plants and animals native to the area where you’re camping. You could even use the picture books to set up a nature scavenger hunt along a trail, which is a great way to motivate reluctant hikers. A few games can prevent the most dreaded words a parent will ever hear: “I’m bored.”

4 • Cleaner Tents For Maximum Profit • Teeco Solutions

Published by The Newsletter Pro • www.TheNewsletterPro.com

A good general cleaner will be able to tackle any dirt, dust, or mud that has settled on the tent during the event, setup, takedown, or transport. The best answer is some sort of concentrate that can be diluted in water. It’s important to test your cleaning products thoroughly before committing to one; it will be needed in much larger quantities once you begin using it on your tents, and it’s the most frequently used chemical in your arsenal of cleaning products. Choosing the best product is one of the most effective ways to save time and cut costs. Picking the wrong cleaner will cause you to spend a lot more time and money to maintain your tents. For your test, select 3–5 concentrates. Be sure to use products that are safety-certified for use on tents. You’ll also need samples of soiled tent material that can be discarded. Finding hand-sized samples of a tent allows you to run the test in a convenient location, such as an office desk or table.

Once you’ve gathered the necessary materials, you’ll need to mix three different dilution samples of each concentrated product. There is usually a recommended dilution ratio on the label; mix

one solution at this ratio, one that is stronger, and one that is weaker. Do the same for each concentrated product. If you bought three different concentrates, you should have nine different test solutions when finished mixing. Use a toothbrush or small scrub brush with relatively soft, thin bristles to test each solution on a different vinyl sample. Use the same amount of pressure and number of strokes with each test. The goal is to find the solution that cleans the best with the least effort, so using the same number of strokes and amount of pressure for each test is more important than getting the sample piece completely clean. When you’re done cleaning each sample, label it with the type of solution that was used so it can be identified later. Make sure the brush is thoroughly rinsed out between each test. Once you’ve finished all of your tests, examine each sample under intense light. An OTT brand magnifying light works great for this purpose (www.ottlite.com). Decide which solutions cleaned the dirt the best. Have three employees make independent judgments and compare opinions to decide which product and dilution ratio did the best job. As stated earlier, the best solution is the one that will clean the most in the least number of strokes. In the long run, this will mean that employees are spending less time scrubbing on tents, which means less money spent on labor costs and a faster turnaround time between events.

Our customers say it best: ”I own a lot of Tentnology brand tents. I sent some 2-3 year old sidewall back to them for repairs and they asked me if they’d ever been used! They didn’t understand why they were s8ll so clean but in need of repair. They commented that most of the tents they get back for repair are extremely dirty. My Teeco tent washer made them look brand new. I also had a regular customer ask me if I’d bought new tents the next season aFer I’d got my Teeco washer and cleaned everything up to white again.” - Russ Jaynes, Idaho Tent & Awning
