Here’s to those who keep the trails open

Wild hosts major hockey tournament Hockey fans in Clarence-Rockland will get their fill of high-calibre action at the end of March as the Eastern Ontario Wild hosts the 2016 All Ontario Major BantamAAA Championships. The club is co-sponsoring the event with Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Eastern Ontario Minor. The five-day event runs from March 28 to April 2 at the Clarence-Rockland Arena on the Canadian International Hockey Academy cam- pus off of County Road 17 and will showcase seven teams from all three branches of Hockey Canada Ontario.Ticket information is available at treasurer@wildaaa.ca . Other details are avail- able at www.wildaaa.ca . – Gregg Chamberlain Snowmobile STOP program halts The OPP and the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) are calling a halt to the Snowmobile Trail Officer Patrol (STOP) program that the two agencies have partnered on for the past 20 years on OFSC trails. The program featured OPP officers and volunteers from OFSC clubs, who acted as special constables, doing patrols of snowmobile trails and enforcing rules related to alcohol and other actions that affect trail safety. The decision to end the program for now follows an OPP review and evaluation. Both agencies credit the efforts of both patrollers and riders from all OFSC member clubs for their efforts to maintain safe riding on the trails and urge snowmobilers to continue to practise safe riding habits and to report anyone seen or suspected of riding while impaired or doing anything else that endangers the safety of others on snowmobile trails. – Gregg Chamberlain

Any reason is a good reason to get together as far as snowmobilers are concerned. The executive of the EasternOntario Snowmobile Clubs figured that hosting a special spaghetti supper to thank all the volunteers who help keep the trails groomed and marked and do a lot of other unpaid support work that helps keeps riders happy is one of the best reasons of all to get people out on their machines. The end-of-season special event took place at Chez Royal Brunet andwas very well-attended. lorem ipsumdolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. —photo Barnyard Studio au coin
