Best Bartender Lucy Morrison

Gene’s Beer Garden

This three-time-BOM-winning bartender has been filling glasses at Greenmont’s popular watering hole for nearly two decades. The once-shy Irish native took a chance on bartending in Morgantown and has never looked back. Morrison’s friendly manner and her spunky Irish lilt, still strong after decades of immersion in Appalachia, earn her a special place in Morgantown bar-goers’ hearts. 461 Wilson Avenue, 304.292.1147, genesbeergarden.com, @genes1944

Best Politician Danielle Walker

time winner

It’s been a big year for Delegate Danielle Walker: a year full of marching, fighting for change, and being selected as Best Politician in Best of Morgantown. Walker took that crown from popular Mon County Commission President Tom Bloom, who had won it for the past three years straight. Walker says her journey has been an incredible one and that she feels so grateful to spend every day representing those who feel their voices have been silenced, gagged, or muffled. “This award may have my name on it,” Walker says, “but it’s the people’s award voted by the people that I pass every day, shop with, communicate with, my friends, my neighbors, my community. I congratulate everyone who was nominated and I say thank you to the voters from the very bottom of my heart. I’ll continue working tirelessly for all of you.” daniellewalkerwv.com, @delegatedaniellewalker
