Tuesday was a big day at Recycle Action in Hawkesbury where the first

load of blue box materials was delivered to the Spence Avenue sorting

centre. The centre will sort the approximately 1,300 tonnes of recyclable

materials collected every year in Hawkesbury, East Hawkesbury and

Champlain.

The regional recycling committee recently finalized a deal with the

organizationwhichwill charge $58 per tonne, about a dollar less than the

fee municipalities paid to the R.A.R.E. centre in Alexandria.

AdivisionofGroupeConvex, anon-profit organization that helpspeople

with employment barriers, Recycle- Action, which employs 42 people,

has hired 14 new employees at its new location.
