Northport (AL) Alumni Chapter Leads Community Forum survey expressed high levels of satis- faction, a desire to learn more, and an interest in additional forums to facilitate better community relations and resourc- es in the Black community. Northport Alumni operates Guide

The forum expands on the “Learn 2 Live” initiative, a collaborative effort with Kappa Alpha Psi ® to address racial profiling and the increasing frequency of tragic outcomes between law enforce- ment and Persons of Color. The forum was a five-series event that had tens of thousands of viewers engaging in dialogue. After greetings from Dr. Linebarger, a panel of com- munity leaders shared vital information on various stereotypes, statistics and actionable solutions to crime impacting the Black community. The series kicked off with 10 panelists nightly and Q&A was held. The forum was particularly informative with regards to solutions to change stigmas and address labels such as Black on Black Crime. Over 90% of the attendees who answered the closing to overcome setbacks, controlling their emotions, discipline, and hard work. The Kappa League Physical Fitness Session was part of one of the Seven Phases of Kappa League focusing on Health and Wellness. It was one of the most fun sessions of the Kappa League year, these young men learned about the importance of diet and exercise. Each Kappa Leaguer received workout bands and were instructed on how to use them. After the workout, the Kappa Leaguers competed against each other in an obstacle course. The Kappa Leaguers visited the Na- tional Basketball Association Headquar- ters. The visit allowed Kappa Leaguers to get an inside look into the NBA’s op- erations and learn about careers off the basketball court. The NBA staff shared their day to day experiences of what it is like to work for the association. Inspired by the hit television show “Shark Tank,” the Kappa League Pro- gram created a session where the Kappa Leaguers were entrepreneurs charged with coming up with a mobile applica- tion that could help high school stu-

T he Northport (AL) Alumni Chap- ter in partnership with Central Elementary launched a commu- nity initiative entitled, “Unpacking The Term 'Black On Black' Crime,” an effort to formally address one of the most criti- cal issues affecting People of Color in the United States. The forum was led by principal of Central Elementary Dr. Monte Linebarger, (Kappa Kappa 1999)

New Rochelle-White Plains (NY) Alumni Chapter Kappa League Provides Diverse Experiences D uring the past six years, the New Rochelle-White Plains (NY) Alumni (NRWP) Kappa dents. Kappa Leaguers were paired into five teams where they worked on their ideas and pitches to a panel of judges.

League Program has been intricately involved with its Lower Hudson Valley communities. The seeds the program has planted has allowed it to reap a tremendous harvest of young men destined of success and greatness. The after effect of the programs’ involvement has propagated over 120 young men that are actively participating in our program today… which reflects a growth rate of 250%. The Chapter provides a variety of unique experiences for the students. The Rock-Climbing Event at The Cliffs was conducted at an indoor rock-climbing facility. Rock climbing allowed our Kappa League participants to showcase their own physical and mental strength while building confi- dence. This session also gave the par- ticipants an opportunity to strengthen relationships with one another. With a focus on social-emotional learning, the Kappa League experienced the follow- ing outcomes, it taught the importance of teamwork, good sportsmanship, how

The Kappa Leaguers participated in a Stock Market Challenge. The meet- ing began with Mr. Joe Solan, who is a Managing Partner at 4Sight Advisors LLC discussing the Stock Market Chal- lenge game. The Stock Market Chal- lenge game is an online simulation of the global capital markets that engages students in the world of economics, investing and personal finance. After his presentation, the Kappa Leaguers were placed in the groups and began to re- view materials on stocks. Mr. Joe Solan, along with Brothers Pierre Oscar, Walter Marable, and Phil Shuler worked with Kappa Leaguers and challenged them with the question of what they would do with $100,000? Through dialogue and open discussion, each team brainstorms on a financial strategy that would allow them to gain a fundamental understand- ing of investing.
