arid probably should be, but our time and space here will not per mit this. The hard and unpleasant fact is simply this. Generally speak ing, religious broadcasts are not accepted on major radio stations and, if they are, they are limited to time which is not too easily marketable for other uses. As far as Sunday time is concerned, it is available for good Gospel broadcasts on many of the better stations, so far. Many religious broadcasters who present their programs on week days have a very difficult time in securing open time. This difficulty will be made more def inite and intense if certain pres sure groups—among them certain religious elements — have their way. This matter is a problem about which lovers of Christ and the Gospel can and should pray ear nestly. But there is more than this that we can do. We should make our feelings known to sta tion managers. Although there are some miniature autocrats such as one I mentioned manag ing radio stations, most of them are responsible, thinking people and are interested in and cordial to the wishes and preferences of their listeners. If you enjoy a Gospel program, do not be satisfied simply to write to the person who presents it. Let your feelings be known in a cour teous and respectful way to the management of the radio station over which you hear the program. A deluge of mail to the stations releasing Gospel programs, com mending them for their practice of giving an opportunity to pre sent the Gospel over the air, would have a very fine effect, I believe, in encouraging them to continue the practice. Let there be no doubt about it —Gospel broadcasting does face severe tests from inimical influ ences both in and out o f the radio industry. The Christian public can help preserve the Gospel on the air by such positive action.
