Care Home

We are thrilled to welcome you to The Orchards, our stunning purpose built home in Ely. We are extremely proud of the outstanding facilities we have to offer and cannot wait to show you around. From cosy communal lounges to spacious en-suite shower rooms, all beautifully furnished to offer a home from home environment. The home also benefits from landscaped gardens and many of our rooms take in the lovely views of the communal areas. What truly makes us special are the team who go above and beyond every day to ensure the ladies and gentlemen who live with us enjoy their next chapter with us. Welcome to The Orchards

“I would definitely recommend this care home. I am a GP with 30 years’ experience so I have visited many other homes and the Orchards must be in the top 1%.” Daughter of resident (Source: carehome.co.uk)

The Orchards Team

Our Philosophy of Care

At The Orchards, we are committed to making a difference. Every day should be special, and we understand that our ladies and gentlemen are still individuals, loving husbands and wives, parents and grandparents – all amazing people that have lived fulfilling lives which have helped shape the world we live in. Our aim is to encourage independence and our philosophy is to provide the highest standards of care and support in the best possible environments. We encourage everyone who lives in our home to be involved in how they are cared for, from when they get up to when they go to bed, it’s all about personal choice. From choosing what’s on our menus, the range of activities on offer and how they spend their time, we respect that this is our residents’ home and tailor every day to meet their needs. Our residents decided to join The Orchards family because they wanted this chapter of their lives to be happy, positive and to be treated with dignity and respect.

The Care We Deliver

At The Orchards we deliver Residential and Dementia Care, both of which are provided in dedicated suites within the home.

Residential Care

We support older people with a range of differing needs. It might be a bit of help with getting up or going to bed, support with washing or dressing and assistance with eating, drinking and taking medication. This type of provision is for people that want to retain their independence and need support to do so.

We also offer short term respite stays for those needing a break or a little holiday.

Dedicated Dementia Care

People living with dementia often need the same sort of assistance as those receiving residential care. As well as getting support with daily tasks they may also require help in making decisions, staying safe and maintaining their sense of self as their journey progresses.

Modern and Comfortable Rooms

Living at The Orchards

What is life like at The Orchards? Well there’s no one answer because all of our residents are individuals and all like to do things differently. But, here are some of the things our residents can enjoy:

The en-suite bedrooms at The Orchards have been designed and fitted out to the highest standards to ensure maximum convenience and comfort. The rooms are spacious and bright. They are fully furnished with TV, Wi-Fi, telephone point and an en-suite wet room, and a choice between an electric profiling bed or a divan. The bedroom and wet room have a 24-hour call bell system which gives peace of mind that care is on hand at the touch of a button whenever required. While the spaces are beautifully furnished and decorated we know how important it is for our residents that their rooms feel like home. We encourage residents to bring their own pictures, ornaments and small furniture items to personalise their spaces.

Dining Experience

Excellent quality and delicious food at the heart of our home! We are extremely passionate about the dining experience our residents and their visitors receive. You are guaranteed the freshest and finest ingredients with locally sourced seasonal produce where possible. A full and varied menu is available at every mealtime with choice to suit all dietary requirements. We know how important meal times are and want everyone to be involved with what’s available. Our bistro area offers hot and cold drinks as well as delicious home made cakes and treats to enjoy with new friends! Hair Salon We believe that life shouldn’t stop just because you move in to a care home. The Orchards has its very own beauty salon so if your weekly hair appointment doesn’t make you feel special enough then why not also indulge in a manicure?

Activities and Social Events

We are a Charity

Life should be fun, and that doesn’t change when you get older. We have a dedicated activities team whose role is to ensure our residents enjoy a busy and varied day. Whatever you like to do we will support you to stay active and engaged with past or new hobbies.

Our families often choose Greensleeves Care because we are a charity that helps older people live happier, independent and fulfilled lives. Being a care charity means we do not have to compromise to make a profit. We focus exclusively on our residents whom we serve with pride. We have no shareholders to consider and no dividends to pay. Many care organisations do their best for older people they look after but they have to balance the needs of their residents with owners and shareholders. This means they have an inevitable choice between making a profit and making a difference. At Greensleeves Care we focus all of our efforts on our mission to help as many older people as possible.

This includes our residents partaking in their favourite tipple in the quiet lounge, enjoying the stunning gardens or fun and meaningful activities with other residents. Of course, no list could cover everything our residents do, but in short if you want to do it we’ll try to make it happen.

Our care goes beyond our residents

As you would expect, the team at The Orchards are dedicated to supporting our residents and making their stay with us as happy and positive as possible.

Still, our residents are not the only people we care for.

Our Home for Life Commitment

High quality care can only be delivered by happy, skilled professionals. So we invest to ensure our colleagues feel valued, and supported to keep well and to continue developing. We are also here for our residents’ families and friends. After all, when someone moves in with us, they do more than change their address. They - and you - join a new community. We understand how difficult change can be. We want to ensure you are fully involved in all the important decisions. We are here to help and guide you. That’s what being part of The Orchards family is all about.

Greensleeves Care’s Home for Life Commitment means that we never ask a resident to leave one of our homes because they run out of money. This is often a great source of comfort for people looking for a care home and for our residents who already live with us. We believe in fairness and so do our families who also expect us to manage the charity in an equitable and sustainable manner. That is why we have a small number of stipulations on our Home for Life Commitment. Residents are required to complete a financial assessment form prior to moving in. We request that they are honest about their financial position. We also require that there is no financial mismanagement during their stay.

“The staff always have time to speak to me if I wish to discuss a situation and make me feel we are managing my husband’s illness together.”
