&/#3&'r#3*&'4 UNE PREMIÈRE POUR LE SERVICE DES INCENDIES Le Service des incendies de Clarence- Rockland se sont rendus sur les lieux du YMCA de Rockland, le matin du 15 novembre dernier. Les pompiers répondaient au déclenchement de l’alarme d’incendie. Une fois sur les lieux, ceux-ci ont découvert que la cause de cette alarme n’était nulle autre que de la vapeur créée par un accessoire de cigarette électrique. « C’est une première pour nous, a fait valoir un pompier de Clarence-Rockland. Il semble que quelqu’un ait utilisé une cigarette électrique dans les escaliers du YMCA, ce qui aurait déclenché l’alarme. » – Francis Racine

Il semble que celle-ci s’y trouvait depuis longtemps. De grand format, la lettre est adressée à de récents mariés, soit Gilles et Diane. On ignore leurs noms et seule une date parait au bas de la lettre : le 8 mai 1976. En effet, certains membres de la famille de la victime demeurent à Calgary et n’étaient pas en mesure de se déplacer à Rockland pour participer aux funérailles de M. Jobin. Heureusement, à la suite de la collecte de fonds, ceux-ci s’envoleront vers la région. « Grâce à l’immense générosité (de la communauté), combinée au soutien et à l’assistance de Manon Lacelle Lacroix de Marlin Travel Hawkesbury ainsi que WestJet, qui a offert un tarif réduit pour les vols, nous avons atteint l’objectif et avons été en mesure d’amener la famille entière dans la région afin d’assister aux funérailles », a fait savoir Josée Barbarie, l’une des organisatrices de la campagne. – Francis Racine An oversized letter, addressed to a soon- to-be-married couple, Gilles and Diane, was brought into the Vision’s office on November 15. Dated May 8, 1972, the letter, which does not contain the last name of the couple, has sat for many years in a closet.
