King's Business - 1955-10

SUNDAY SCHOOL continued their daily life and proceeds to draw a spiritual application from it. This is seen in the parable of the sower. Everyone in Jesus’ day knew about the work of the sower. Jesus here calls attention to the sort of soil the sower came upon as he scattered his seed. Not all the soil was receptive. Some was hard like a trodden path; some was rocky; some was filled with choking thorns; but there was al ways some good soil which was ready to receive the seed and produce fruit. It is this way in giving forth the gos pel. Hearts are in different conditions. W e need to recognize this lest we become overly discouraged in witnessing. The task may be difficult at times but by prayer, patience and the help of the Holy Spirit unreceptive hearts can be made receptive. The Power Employed 9:1-6 These disciples did not go forth in their own strength. They went forth clothed with divine power. They had behind them the might and message of God. It is so today. The witness for Christ has the Spirit of God within him and the Word of the omnipotent God in his hand. With such equipment he does not need to fear any enemy or situation. And the disciple of Christ should always remember that he goes forth in a saving and healing ministry. MEMORY VERSE: ". . . Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15). The Lord Jesus had chosen 12 men to be His disciples but He needed many others who would help Him to tell the good news of God’s love for people every where. The Saviour and the 12 disciples had been so busy preaching and healing the sick that sometimes they did not have time to eat or to rest. Even when they tried to get away from the crowds, some one saw them and told others where they were. The Saviour could not heal all of those in the land; He gave to the dis ciples the power to heal the sick and to cast out demons. One day the Lord Jesus chose 70 other disciples to go out two by two in all of the cities where He wanted the good news of salvation preached. He gave to these 70 the power to heal the sick and to cast out devils. When they returned to report concerning their work, they re joiced at the great power which God had given them in His service. Every child of God is commanded to go and preach about the Lord Jesus. Those who know the Lord Jesus as per sonal Saviour will be eager to share the good news of their salvation with others. They will be eager to invite their family, their neighbors, those in their school and all of their friends to accept the Saviour, too. They will not wait to grow up and be a preacher or a missionary or a Sunday school teacher. Each day they will go and tell those they meet about the Lord Jesus. END. Carroll Stegall, Jr. One of the most rapidly growing sects In America today Is that cult, or rather family of cults, which strongly emphasizes the activities they call "the gifts of the Spirit," particularly "speaking In tongues" and "healing." It is important for Christians of other churches to know and understand this movement. It is extending Its Influence In America and cannot be ignored. The air-waves are filled with the volces) of their preachers; the advertising sec tions of our newspapers are never without their publicity; and our churches have In them many members who are confused and perplexed re garding the truth of their claims. It Is not enough to shrug them off as "holy rollers" or "fanatics." They must be understood, their claims examined, their errors exposed and their good qualities commended. , Rev.
