Size: 32,000 s/f DMR designed the new West Hall on the main campus of Middlesex County College, the firm’s second new construction project on campus, as a one-stop student services building. DMR first completed the programming phase, then proceeded with complete architectural, engineering and construction administra- tion services for the new, 32,000 s/f facility. The building will provide a central location for student services, and will also include multi-purpose, conference, office, lounge, storage and lobby space. The building is currently under con- struction and will seek LEED Gold Certification from the USGBC. This project completely reorganized the College’s business model by streamlining processes, cross training staff, updating protocols, and making as much as possible self- serve.
Size: 5,000 s/f Under new ownership and management by JBAS Realty LLC, the project in- volved a complete renovation, reconstruction and addition. The existing kitchen and toilet rooms were removed; the remaining structure was completely gutted to bare studs with all new mechanical systems and new finishes installed. Seating capacity was doubled by the addition of a new covered side porch and rear patio bar. The interior is appointed with traditional materials such as chestnut mill- work, cooper top bar, tin ceilings and period lighting which promote a formal yet casual dining experience. The former billiard room located in the basement is now a cigar bar with newly appointed subway tile, checkered black and white flooring and chrome accents.
