Motor & Steam Around Worcester Our packaged tour of Worcestershire takes in the famous Morgan Motor Company, known for its high performing sports cars, a journey on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway and the magnificent ruins of Witley Court, as well as the medieval market towns of Ledbury and Stratford-upon-Avon. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Ledbury & Morgan Motor Company This morning, we spend time at leisure in the attractive market town of Ledbury, full of timber framed buildings. Look out for the 17th century black and white Market House and the much photographed cobbled medieval street where the Heritage Centre, Butchers Row Folk Museum and the Painted Room leading to the fine parish church can be found. From here, we make our way to the beautiful spa town of Malvern, home of the Morgan Motor Company for over 100 years. We enjoy a 2 hour guided tour of the factory , watching the skilled craftsmen at work as they hand make the famous Morgan sports cars. Day 3 Witley Court & Worcester We travel to Witley Court this morning. Once one of the great country houses of Victorian England, attracting fashionable society when it was the setting for extravagant parties and royal entertainment, the house was devastated by fire in 1937. Today, the spectacular ruins provide evidence of the opulence and scale of the architecture and interiors whilst the beautifully restored parterres, garden and Perseus and Andromeda fountain provide a relaxing retreat. From here, we head to Worcester where we have free time for lunch before enjoying the afternoon at leisure to explore. Highlights include Worcester Cathedral, Tudor House Museum, Museum of Royal Worcester, Greyfriars House and Garden and The Guildhall Worcester. Day 4 Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway & Stratford-upon-Avon In the morning we head for Cheltenham Racecourse to board a Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway train to the nearby town of Broadway, nesting in the Cotswolds. There will be plenty of opportunity to admire the beautiful Cotswolds scenery from our carriage, taking in the sleepy hamlets and villages, the Malvern Hills and beyond. After our journey we visit the charming medieval market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. We enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore this historic town. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
