PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Duxford & Cambridge Our destination this morning is the Imperial War Museum Duxford , Britain’s best preserved World War II airfield. Its story reflects the landmark achievements made in aviation history and it incorporates a series of museums and exhibitions, including the 1940’s Operations Room, AirSpace (featuring 30 iconic aircraft including the Spitfire and Concorde), The American Air Museum (with the largest collection of US historic military aircraft in Europe), The Battle of Britain Exhibition (RAF Duxford’s pivotal role) and Land Warfare to name but a few. We spend the afternoon at leisure in Cambridge, with numerous attractions to explore. Day 3 Stamford & Rutland Water Cream Tea Cruise We spend the morning in Stamford. Built in Georgian times, the pretty facades of the town are favourites with film and television producers – Stamford was used as Meryton in the 2005 Pride & Prejudice film and has also appeared in Middlemarch and The Da Vinci Code. Stamford’s narrow alleyways and courtyards are home to speciality shops, fine jewellers and designer boutiques. In the afternoon we head to Rutland Water where we enjoy a lake cruise with a cream tea whilst taking in This morning, we make our way to Bletchley Park where Alan Turing and his colleagues helped crack Germany’s Enigma Code during World War II. We uncover Bletchley Park’s remarkable story by visiting the unglamorous, functional Codebreaking Huts and Blocks, Alan Turing’s office, the Library, the wartime garages (complete with WW II vehicles) and a series of fascinating interactive exhibits before enjoying lunch (not included) in Hut 4 (formerly home to WWII Naval Intelligence Code Breaking Operations).
