A Discovery of Bridges & Royal Houses

The Royal family have strong connections to Scotland and this tour traces their footsteps as we visit Glamis Castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where we also enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea. Discovery Point, a cruise on the Firth of Forth and a trip on the Falkirk Wheel are also included. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival Today, we enjoy a guided tour of Glamis Castle , renowned for being Scotland’s most beautiful castle. We learn about the castle which is famous for being the legendary setting of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother and the birthplace of Princess Margaret. In the afternoon, we have free time for lunch in Dundee, perhaps visiting the impressive V&A Museum of Design before we visit Discovery Point and explore Captain Scott’s ship, Discovery, which he sailed to Antarctica. Day 3 Three Bridges Cruise & Falkirk Wheel This morning, we make our way to South Queensferry, from where we embark on a 90 minute Three Bridges circular cruise of the Firth of Forth. We enjoy magnificent views of the “three bridges” including the world-famous Forth Railway Bridge, the Edinburgh skyline to the south and Fife to the north. In the afternoon, we travel to the Falkirk Wheel the World’s only rotating boat lift to enjoy the full experience as we sail through the sky connecting the Forth and Clyde canals. Day 4 Royal Yacht Britannia & Holyroodhouse We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Glamis Castle & Discovery Point This morning, we visit Edinburgh and visit the Royal Yacht Britannia , the British Monarchy’s former floating royal residence for more than 40 years. We explore her five decks and discover where kings and queens, world leaders and celebrities were wined and dined. In the afternoon, we visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse , the Monarchy’s official Scottish residence, where we explore the grand rooms and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in the historic setting of the Mews Courtyard. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
