Full Steam Ahead in Fort William The highlight of our fabulous Scottish west coast tour is a spectacular journey on the famous Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig, considered to be one of the greatest railway journeys in the world. We also feature an exhilarating ride on Britain’s only mountain gondola and a cruise on Loch Linnhe to Seal Island. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Oban This morning we take a scenic drive along Loch Linnhe to Oban, the unofficial capital of the West Highlands, acclaimed as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’. We spend the day at leisure exploring the town’s attractions, such as McCaig’s Tower & Battery Hill, Oban Distillery and the Oban War & Peace Museum. Please contact the Sales Team if you prefer to explore the Isle of Mull on this day. Day 3 Nevis Range & Cruise on Loch Linnhe Today, we take a ride on a gondola at Nevis Range . Britain’s only mountain gondola will transport us from 300ft up to 2150ft on the north face of Aonach Mor, the 8th highest mountain in Britain. During the short journey (12-15 minutes each way) marvel at the stunning views of the Scottish Highlands, including the Great Glen and Ben Nevis. We enjoy free time to visit the restaurant, take in the panoramic views and wander around the Mountain Discovery Centre before we return to ground level. In the afternoon we take a cruise on Loch Linnhe . Lasting approximately 2 hours, we cruise to Seal Island, enjoying refreshments and live commentary en route from the skipper and hoping for a glimpse of the fabulous white-tailed Eagles, as well as the seals after whom the island is named. Day 4 Jacobite Steam Train Today, we embark on a journey described as the greatest railway journey in the world, on the famous Jacobite Steam Train , which will take us on an 84 mile return journey from Fort William to the fishing village of Mallaig . Along the way, we encounter spectacular scenery and travel across the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct’s magnificent 21 arches, featured in the Harry Potter films. Please note, special booking terms are required for the Jacobite Steam Train which includes a non-refundable deposit. It is possible to book a journey from Fort William to Mallaig using a standard train without the booking restrictions, if you would prefer this option please speak to the Sales Team. Whilst in Mallaig, it is possible to enjoy a 1 hour wildlife cruise travelling out to Green Island on the Knoydart Peninsula. Please contact the sales team if you wish to add this.
