Built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and is used regularly for ceremonial and State occasions. Steeped in history, St George’s Chapel has hosted Royal weddings for centuries and is also the final resting place of monarchs such as Henry VIII, the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II. Day 2 Windsor Castle, Tea on the Thames & Departure We spend the morning at Windsor Castle before making our way into the town (immediately below the castle walls) to browse the shops and enjoy lunch. We begin our day with time at leisure in Windsor, exploring the town and perhaps stopping for a coffee in one of the cafés. This afternoon we head to Savill Garden where we kick off our visit with lunch – our options include the British classic fish and chips, yum! After lunch, we explore the beautifully designed gardens and woodland, admiring the seasonal flowers, plants and trees. We finish our day with a one-way cruise from Runnymede Boathouse to Windsor . As we sail, we take in the Old Windsor Lock, the villages of Old Windsor and Datchet, Windsor Castle & Romney Lock. Day 3 Windsor Castle & Departure We spend this morning at the impressive Windsor Castle . Built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, it is used for many ceremonial and State occasions. After our visit, we begin our journey home.
