After six months in jail, Lonnie Garrett connected with the Cooper Center for Healing and joined a specialized recovery program for individuals impacted by the carceral system and substance use disorders. Today, he is a proud Cooper team member — proof that with the right support, healing can lead not just to recovery, but to purpose, belonging, and a new beginning.

“Our greatest hope is that Zane’s memory continues to protect others. Through these donations and outreach, we’re spreading awareness and sharing Zane’s story.” Eight years after losing their son, Zane, the Witmer family continues to honor his memory by bringing comfort to children in need. On the anniversary of his passing, they donated more than 50 handmade blankets and activity kits to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, offering warmth and moments of joy during difficult hospital stays.
