THE K I NG ' S BUS I NESS
powerful Saviour (Col. 3:1), we ‘will •put out of our hearts anger and bad language and . lies and every other evil thing. As we think of Him, we will let mercy and kindness and for giveness grow in our hearts, and the first thing we know, there will spring up the flowers of peace and thank fulness and song. The Bible says; “Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do «il in the name oS the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” (Col. 3:17). It s a y s , too, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31). When we have obeyed these three rules, it will be easy for us to do what our Memory Verse asks. Shall we repeat it together? OBJECTS: A hammer, a saw, a square, and a level. (Toys may be used if desired.) LESSON: I have always enjoyed hearing the noise of the hammers and saws of carpenters. Before a man can be a good carpenter, he must learn the rules for using the tools. In order that we might learn some of the rulés, I brought a few tools with me. Here they are: a hammer, a saw, a square, and a level. Often, before the hammer and nails' are used, the lumber must be cut }n the right lengths. Which tool is used for cutting? “The saw, of course.” Before the cutting starts, the square is placed on the lumber and a mark is made in order that the cut may be made exactly w h e r e it should be. When the lumber has been cut ca¿e- M atthcvc S ti3 Tie a re th e s a lt o f th e earth« b u t it th e s a lt h a v e lo s t h is sa v o r, w h erew ith sh a ll It be sa lted ? In Riga, the Latvian Capi tal, where Salvation Temple housed Russian, Latvian, Polish and German churches and in the Polish Ukraine, Evangelical ministry has been reorgan ized. On one Sunday evening there were 46 conversions at Pruzhana in Polesie and 23 at Luck. In our Pulawska Cen ter, Warsaw, there is a continuous re vival. The physical and spiritual hunger is intense and must be met. So please "pray' for us.”* Fuller information in “Russian Millions,” 50 cents per annum; sample, copy free. Rev, F. J. Miles . Perhaps they are mot written down anywhere, but everybody in the fam ily knows what they are and tries to have rules to guide them, too. LESSON STORY: To help us see these rules and want to obey them, we have brought, three cards with reminders on them. We will hold up the first one: “Remember Who You Are.” If you are a member of the Lord’s family, you have received the Lord Jesus as your own Saviour. Hd has taken away your sins (Acts 2:38)* and you have become an entirely new person, “a new creature” in Christ Jesus (2. Cor. 5:17). The first rule is that you should act all the time as this new person should—not at all like the mean, selfish person that you used to be; ‘‘Remember-Who You Arfe.” Th© second card says: “Remember Others.” Years ago, when the very -first members of the church w e r e gathered together, they saw this rule and obeyed it. They loved each other so much that they shared their money and other things with one another; they prayed for each other; they wor shiped together, and they praised God together all the time (Acts 2:42-47). It is an important rule for us, too: '(Remember Others.” The third rule is the most necessary of all; “Remember the Lord Jesus.” Thinking of Him as being our risen, obey them. Can you think of some of t h e m ? Did you know that the peo ple who love and t r u s t the L o r d Jesus Christ are all one family? They are c a l l e d t h e church of J e s u s Christ, and t h e y
fully, the carpenter uses the level, before driving the nails with the ham mer, fastening the board in the de sired place. I said that a man must learn the rules for using tools, before he can be a real carpenter. What would you think of a man, claiming to be a car penter, who tried to cut a board with a hammer? “We would know that he was not a real carpenter.” Likewise, you would not expect to see a real carpenter trying to drive nails with a level. Each tool was intended by the manufacturer to per form a certain task. The wise car penter uses his tools as they were intended. The tools and rules about which we have been talking remind me.of the words of Raul: “Now ye are the body of Christ and members in par ticular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers” (1 Cor. 12:27, 28). You will notice that those who are in the body of Christ do not all have the same work to do. We need to realize that God has given various gifts in the church, gifts wnich are different and necessary to the work and growth of the church. Each Christian should find his place of service and work cheerfully, perform ing the will of Christ. 16 A nd th e y b ro u g h t ft.
