CHEATHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE- Mike Breedlove, Sheriff Hi Everyone! Let’s not only talk trash but let’s pick it up when you come upon on it! As sheriff, I hate to see trash thrown out along the roadways because Cheatham is such a beautiful place to live. Some trash just flies out of moving vehicles accidentally. Other trash is thrown out on purpose. People who throw their trash out for others to pick up is just plain nasty and illegal. Whenever we find household trash we become investigators and look for any evidence to put the trash on the person and the “suspected trasher” gets a citation and court date. Do your best to help keep Cheatham trash free! You will be doing a huge favor for the frogs, turtles, chipmunks and squirrels even if the possums and raccoons don’t agree. Let’s trash the trash Cheatham students!

Let’s Talk About the Law! It is the Sheriff’s job to enforce the laws and help bring people to justice. We could also call a law a “rule”. When a rule is broken, there are consequences. There laws for people who throw trash in ditches and littering our roads. When we find garbage unattended, we go through the bags to find out who it belongs to. It works everytime. So, we then send a summons to them to appear in court which results in them being fined for breaking the law and are charged court costs. Imagine, throwing a bag of trash in a ditch to find yourself in court costing you over $100.00. People who break laws (rules) have to pay (consequences) or they will continue with this unacceptable and bad behavior.
