SEAN MAHER SCHOLARSHIP Recipient: Erica Borchardt Majors: Elementary Education; Special Education
Recipient: Mikaila Falash Program: Master’s in Education; Special Education licensure This scholarship was established by Marilyn Kapter in 2007 in memory of her grandson Sean. Sean died in a tragic accident at the age of 21. He had the soul of a poet, a young man who loved music and theater and took great joy in writing songs and performing. On his last evening with Marilyn, he read the balcony scene from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” to her with great tenderness and feeling. With all these abilities, Sean also had a disability. He was born with Down Syndrome. It is Marilyn’s hope that the recipient of this scholarship will go the extra mile and concentrate on students’ abilities, not their disabilities, allowing them to develop their full potential.

Recipient: Trevor Hartl Major: Music Education
This scholarship was established by Patricia A. and Joseph J. Okray. Pat attended Stevens Point State Teachers College as an elementary education major and taught kindergarten in Nekoosa. The Okray Family Farms of Plover celebrated its 100th year of business in 2005.
