Public Workshop On July 24, 2017 the Parks and Recreation Department and the Planning Team hosted a community workshop at the City Hall complex. More than 50 citizens participated in the event. The planning team gave a short presentation that provided participants an introduction to park planning, the park planning process, as well as goals of the plan. In addition, current trends in park and recreation planning and design were presented in order to further the participants’ knowledge of possibilities for DeSoto. After the presentation, the attendees participated in an engagement activity that recorded specific Likes and Wants for the park system as well as recorded ideas on a series of large-scale maps of the city. The meeting concluded with a summary of the findings from the activity as well as a description of next steps for the planning process. Takeaways The following pages graphically represent the results from the workshop.
