General Ops Manual

 Controlling the total mileage put on the car.  Ensuring that routine maintenance is done when required or according to the manufacturer’s manual.  Ensure that the car meets the minimum standard of repair throughout the life of the lease. 9.5 Automobile Maintenance Programs You should adopt a program to monitor the use of your marketing/service vehicles. A sample program follows: The team leader should be the only person permitted to use vehicle. Keep a maintenance schedule for all cars in accordance with the owner’s manual or the lease agreement for each car. The manufacturer supplies a recommended maintenance schedule with each new car. This is designed to protect a car that is owned by an individual who is intending to keep it for several years. The team leader must report the odometer reading to the franchise owner via the team leader schedule. By reviewing this schedule weekly, you will be aware of excessive mileage being put on the car, and you will also be aware of when the next routine maintenance should be scheduled. Find a local garage where all cars can be sent for periodic maintenance. In consideration of the potential business volume, it is quite possible to negotiate a better deal for parts, labor, and convenience. Warranty work, of course, will have to be done at an authorized dealer. At every scheduled major maintenance, the owner’s manual will specify things like:  Tune engine and check linkages.  Lubricate and adjust emergency cables.  Check heater and air conditioner.  Lubricate door hinges.  Check lights.  Inspect battery and cables.  Adjust belts.  Check fluid levels and radiator. Clean or replace and gap spark plugs. You should review the schedule with your local dealer to ensure that maintenance problems unique to your car model and geographic area are satisfied. NOTE: The franchise owner should keep a daily log of business mileage for her own company car similar to that of the team leader.
