A New Dental Spa Your Oviedo Dentist Is Moving!

Our new facility will also feature a state-of-the-art sterilization room,

In a matter of months, Your Oviedo Dentist will be moving. But don’t worry, we aren’t moving far. Our new office is currently under construction in Oviedo on the Park, and it’s set to open this fall. This month, we’re excited to share the first details with you! The new building was designed with one thing in mind: your comfort. Not only will the new building have more space throughout, but it will also feature newmassage chairs and plenty of the amenities that our patients look forward to at every appointment. We’ll be taking our “dental spa” philosophy to the next level. One of the features we’re most excited for is the complete redesign of our reception area. It’s spacious and bright, and it will feature a fully stocked coffee bar, which will have such a variety of options, it will feel like stepping into your own personal coffeehouse where you are your own barista. And it’s not just the reception area that is spacious and bright. The whole office was designed with natural light in mind. Everywhere you look, you’ll see a floor-to-ceiling window. On top of that, every one of our dental rooms will come with a view. We don’t want you to feel confined in any way. Instead, you’ll be able to bask in natural sunlight during your appointment. At Your Oviedo Dentist, one of our core values is learning. Our dentists and team members are all dedicated to continuing education and enriching their lives. To reflect that dedication, our new office will have a training room and library. In this room, our team members can learn about cutting-edge dental technologies, connect with other specialists from around the world, attend webinars, and discuss improved methods of patient care.

along with two labs. These specialized rooms will enable us to do more than we ever could before. Best of all, our patients will spend less time waiting. Procedures that once required multiple appointments over several days or weeks will now be completed in less time. Another exciting feature of our new building will be the dedicated parking. Over the past 10 years, we’ve shared our parking lot with several other businesses, but because we will be in a building we can call our own, we’ll have parking to go along with it. This will not only provide a more convenient experience for our patients, but will allow us to host fun and exciting events right in our own backyard! Our goal is to be able to serve you and our community better than ever, and once the new office is up and running, we hope to bring on additional dentists and hygienists. Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing updates and more on our Facebook page (facebook.com/youroviedodentist) so be sure to check back periodically. We may even be planning a huge inauguration celebration for when the new office opens, but more on that later! Dr. Angel Lopez

The Facts About Laser Dentistry

Infection Specifically, lasers remove harmful bacteria from the teeth and gums. This decreases risk of infection following certain procedures, including root canals. Wisdom Teeth In patients with wisdom teeth that have not fully erupted, lasers are used to clear gum tissue to expose the teeth for extraction. Additionally, lasers are often used to extract biopsy samples. When a patient is screened for cancer, the laser can remove a small amount of tissue, which can then be tested for the presence of cancer. A dental laser works by delivering an intense and refined beam of light to the surface of teeth or gums. It can be used as a cutting tool or to vaporize tissue, depending on the application. When it comes to whitening, the laser becomes a heat source and can make the tooth-whitening agent more effective. In most cases, no local anesthesia is required, and the patient feels no pain. Lasers are extremely accurate and safe, and they even prevent bleeding.

Laser technology has come to play an integral role in many dental procedures. Over the past two decades, the technology has been refined and recognized as a safe and effective tool in the dentist’s toolkit. Lasers are primarily used in periodontal care, but they have many other applications as well, including cosmetic dentistry. In that respect, a dentist may use dental lasers to speed up the tooth-whitening process. This is useful for patients who may be on a tight schedule. Aside from this procedure, dentists use lasers to treat many of the following conditions: Gum Disease Lasers can effectively remove inflamed gum tissue as part of the overall treatment for gum disease. Tooth Decay In some instances, lasers are used to remove tooth decay and ready the surface of the tooth for any necessary fillings.

The Link Between Oral Health andComplete Health Risk Factors and What You Can Do for Your Best Self

greater risk for developing heart disease. By that same notion, a poor diet rich in carbohydrates, fats, and sugars greatly increases the risk of developing gum disease and tooth decay. Another major risk factor is poor hygiene. Poor general hygiene increases the risk of infection and inflammation in the body. Over time, poor hygiene can lead to serious health issues. When it comes to oral health, poor hygiene will result in gum disease and tooth decay. These risk factors can be mitigated by lifestyle choices. Again, when we practice good oral health, our bodies reap the benefits. Here are three things you can do to bring your oral health and your body’s health into sync: Eat right: Reduce your sugar and refined carbohydrates intake. Oral bacteria thrive on these “nutrients” and produce toxins that cause decay and inflammation.

Good oral health is critical to good overall health. The two are inextricably linked. Healthy teeth and gums contribute to a healthy body, and vice versa. When our mouth is healthy, generally, our body is healthy as well. In many respects, the mouth is the gateway to the body. An infection in the mouth can increase susceptibility to infection elsewhere in the body. Oral infections are often a sign that our immune system has been compromised. A common example is periodontal disease. Periodontal disease has been linked to other conditions in the body, including diabetes and heart disease. Nearly 91 percent of people with heart disease also have periodontitis, according to study featured in the Journal of Periodontology. The reason for the connection has much to do with shared risk factors. For instance, people who eat a poor diet are at

Brush and floss: It really can’t be said enough. Regular brushing and flossing is the best way to prevent gum disease and tooth decay. Get active: Daily physical activity does wonders for the body, and over time it can help reduce inflammation.
