Home of America’s first arts council, Arts Quincy, the city has been named one of the “Most Artistic Towns” in the U.S. by Expedia, twice . Arts Quincy’s 55 partner organizations offer year-round creative outlets and enjoyment of the fine arts from Great River Eagle Days to the Civil War Symposium, Blues in the District to ArtFest. The city boasts a top-notch symphony and community theatre.
To celebrate art in a big way, we’ve gathered a set of 24 of murals + nearby eats
The 10-mile route showcases broad sections of the city, winding through the riverfront & downtown, the North End & German Historic District, the Illinois Veterans’ Home and past the Monckton Mansion.
Some of the works are “ghost” murals, weathered by the elements and years, still offering intriguing glimpses of the businesses and families they once represented. Others are newer pieces borne of community revitalization initiatives, enlivening the outdoor atmosphere of public spaces.
